Since the WWCOG's founder/Big Kahoona Herbie Armstrong died in 1986, there have been at least 104 spinoffs of this outfit, while the main gang has undergone a dramatic "transformation" in an attempt to be recognized by "mainstream" Christianity. Here are a few of its changes: in 1988, Joseph W. Tkach, Sr. who succeeded herbie as "Pastor General", taught it was OK to go to doctors & use medicine, observe birthdays, & use cosmetics, reversinf Herbie's policies on these subjects. In 1991, they dropped the doctrine that men would become gods, & re-identified many of the descendants of the 10 "lost" tribes of Israel. In 1993, they "accepted the HOLY TRINITY, …

Mosta you have hearda the "seven church ages" doctrine derived from the first part of revelation where JESUS gives John some messages he is to send to seven churches existing at that time. There is a doctrine that Christ's Church as a whole has gone thru successive ages for each of these churches. This doctrine was developed by john darby in England and spread in the USA by the charlatan teleminister William Marrion Branham & furthered by such as Clarence Larkin & Dr. Peter S. Ruckman. Here are the IDs & descriptions of each of those churches as given by JESUS: (1) Ephesus (2:1-7) This type of church does worship God and has all its doctrines in accordance…

Most of us have heard of "transubstantiation" however, I don't ever recall hearing about "consubstantiation." Until just the other day I had never heard of the "con" and looking up the definition didn't really help much... http://www.gotquesti...tantiation.html "Consubstantiation essentially teaches that Jesus is "with, in, and under" the bread and wine, but is not literally the bread and wine." "Consubstantiation is held by some Eastern Orthodox churches, and some other liturgical Christian denominations (Episcopal and Lutheran as examples). Even among these groups, consubstantiation is not universally accepted."

Something that people here might find interesting...... Compiled by Paul & Pat Blizard (Former Third Generation Jehovah's Witnesses) Of all items listed, only three have been discontinued. (highlighted in red) All are listed, however, to show the absurdity of Watchtower rules and the absolute control leadership has over the lives of members once they join. 1. God is not a Trinity; the doctrine is inspired by the Devil 2. Jesus Christ is a "created being," who at one time did not exist 3. Jesus is not to be worshiped or prayed to-he is only an angel (a.k.a. Michael the archangel) 4. The Holy Spirit is not a person but is "God's active force" i.e. gravity, e…

Each month I get an issue of House to House, Heart to Heart from the churches of Christ. This months issue has an article that clearly states this writer believes only those who are in the churches of Christ will see Heaven. You can click on the title of the article above & read it for yourself. I mentioned recently the local church of Christ had a week long meeting running at least 2 adds in our local paper, maybe more. One add was pointed at us who teach a person is saved only by grace though faith not of your self not of work its a gift, telling the people to attend our meeting so they can find out the truth them be assured they are members of the group of chur…

We must take great care when witnessing to, and debating, those in false religions, that we take great pains to try to represent their position accurately. Far too often, Christians build strawmen(often unknowingly) of their opponents, and knock them down easily, at which point the person in the false religion is like "Yeah, so? I don't believe that." When we misrepresent their religion, we give a bad testimony. One way to avoid doing this, is when witnessing, to ask them what they believe. Not merely go by what you *think* their religion teaches. Mormonism is a great example of this. Even the official Mormon publications come with a disclaimer stating "not everything …

If humans were evacuated, the Earth would flourish. July 23, 2007 issue - The Second Coming may be the most widely anticipated apocalypse ever, but it's far from the only version of the end times. Environmentalists have their own eschatology?a vision of a world not consumed by holy fire but returned to ecological balance by the removal of the most disruptive species in history. That, of course, would be us, the 6 billion furiously metabolizing and reproducing human beings polluting its surface. There's even a group trying to bring it about, the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement, whose Web site calls on people to stop having children altogether. And now the journalist …

I know that some branches of Amish don't believe one is saved while here on earth, but if one lives the Amish lifestyle faithfully enough, he/she MIGHT be saved by Jesus after death. I'm wondering if there are any actual Amish who believe the TRUE GOSPEL of Jesus? (I know some Mennonites do.) Also, there's NO Scriptural support for living primitively. After all, God said that in the end times, knowledge shall increase. So, evidently, the Amish don't believe a lot of the Bibles they use, generally the German Martin Luther version, or the KJV and NIV in English. All those versions have the TRUE Gospel in them.

The Anglican church is experimenting with paganism to try to gain back its members that have switched to paganism. Sigh. They are so dead they're losing even the lost - those who are really seeking for something are leaving since they aren't finding it in the Church of England - but their solution only follows those poor souls further into darkness. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/10133906/Church-of-England-creating-pagan-church-to-recruit-members.html Looking through some pictures of this summer's solstice 'celebration' at Stonehenge, I find it ironic that the pagan celebrants, so lost in darkness, revere the sun's light. There were pictures of peo…

Annointing with oil the sick 1 2

First off I have been annointed with oil by my Pastor and the elders and prayed over. Yet this morning my mom went to her head Pastor and says she was annointed with oil and prayed over for me as her standing in for me. She is United Methodist. Is this normal in their church to do this? I was in shock so I only told her that this was a kind thought but I had already been annointed with oil and prayed over by my pastor and elders before. Her heart was in the right place just misplaced. :sad

Comments were from OB's "Messenger" (Personal Messaging) You're under a misconception. My posts are 90% from the Holy Spirit, the KJB, and me. I do quote other like minded people from time to time but, I prefer what God has shown me. Also, I may quote some authors which some seem to disapprove of but only to provide clarity or drive a point home. Read all of my past posts on the Roman Church, you'll find they are original and you won't find them on the internet, unless my name is with them. What I’ve learned is primarily from scripture. My understanding of the Roman Church never came from a pulpit; it came from study and experience. My first…

The general consensus on this site seems to be, "NO, they aren't even Christian!" I personally believe that they are indeed Christians from what I have seen and witnessed and from the personal research I have done, especially on early church fathers and the creation of the Bible. But this poll is to see what you think.

I am a Catholic who attends the local Catholic parish on Saturday Vigil Mass. I also attend the local Baptist Church on Sunday mornings where I was Baptized via immersion(as a public profession of faith that I gave my life to Christ some 20 years ago) on 21 May 2017. I am both Catholic and Baptist as the result of having been Baptized via immersion at that Baptist Church. In the fall I will take membership preparation class in order to become a member of that Baptist Church I attend on Sunday mornings.

Let's tackle these one by one. Assumption of Mary into Heaven. There are Bible passages that show that Elijah and Enoch were taken up into Heaven w/o dying. Show us a Bible passage that shows that Mary was taken up into Heaven w/o dying. Regarding the verses given: Mt. 27:51-53 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Why is it assumed that this is referring to Heaven? Every other…
