Our son, Jon, has recently been playing mandolin with the bluegrass gospel band "Big River" , which opened for Jeff and Sheri Easter Saturday night. At the end of the show, they all played on stage together. For those who don't know, Jeff's Dad wrote the song "Thank You Lord for Your Blessings on Me", and Sheri and her Mom, Polly, were performing members of the Lewis Family. Both of Jeff and Sheri's children also perform with them. Their daughter, Morgan, is standing next to Jon.

What's your belief of female music leaders? The article link below seems like it was written just to keep things with the times and not an article I necessarily agree with. So what's your beliefs on woman choir directors, woman leading congregationals and so forth? https://baptistnews.com/article/now-theres-a-movement-to-bar-women-as-worship-leaders-in-churches/

Hi, There is a hymn and one of the verses says,"Do you have any stars in your crown?" The stars represent the souls of men won in soul winning. Does anyone know the Hymn? Thank you in advance. Sothenes

Is it possible for someone to be truly tone deaf? My husband tells me I am cause he will make a pitch ask me to match it and maybe 1 out of 4 I can, but the other 3 he just laughs at me cause it is no where near what he said. The choir director at our church said it couldn't be possible because I auscultate breath sounds, will 1, I use a stethoscope to listento Breath sounds only have a few different distinctions and pitch isn't one of them. It is either clear, coarse, wheezing (musical pops and whistles) or Stridor ( sounds like rubbing a wash board). pitch isn't involved. Also when I was in the Navy my first school of choice was Electronics Technician ( I love fi…

You guessed it - which are more Biblical: Hymns or Choruses? I believe overall hymns are. There is more doctrinal content to them, they were not written for ecumenical purposes, they were not designed to be endlessly repetitive as many choruses are, the majority of choruses that I have heard are rock music based, many of them are charismatic in doctrinal content - even if many others are not aware of the terminology, and the wording of many of them are based on modern Bible versions. That's some things for starters. By the way, I am not against sound choruses - but I prefer sound hymns. I do not have a problem with those choruses that are doctrinally-sound and ar…

Hello.. my wife has low voice and would like to be able to convert all her sheet music to digital files that can be transposed. I've downloaded demos of Allegro, Finale PrintMusic, and SmartScore(songbook ed). SmartScore Songbook edition so far is the only one that will retain the words. But I hate to spend $200 for such "extreme" software. I mean, you could write a symphony with this thing. Isn't there something easier/simpler/cheaper? Isn't there something that will retain words, transpose the music, and print without all the bells and whistles??

My parents and I love Gospel music first, but we also enjoy most classical music. We have got a DVD of a violinist and his orchestra. The violinist's name is Andre Reiu. Has anyone heard of him??? :thumb

This has probably been addresses before, but what are ya'lls thoughts on classical music? I don't like all classical. The more modern stuff gets under my skin, with the exception of some that is of the "classical" or "baroqure" style. I like some of the Romantic era, i.e. Dvorak's New World Sym. etc.

[tube][/tube] Info: This song was the result of a discussion (not to say argument) I had with my brother-in-law about the "wine" Jesus created at the Wedding in Cana of Galilee. It is my belief that the wine He created was unfermented wine as though pressed fresh from the grapes. My brother-in-law's view is that Jesus created fine distilled wine. If He did, in my opinion, He would have been inconsistent with His own testimony. These passages, I believe, support my point of view. Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is raging: And whosoever is deceived thereby Is not wise. Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? They that tarry long at the wine; They t…

As time goes bye, churches are opening up to adding drums and more to the worship. I brought this up once before, but I am open to drums and more, instruments. Maybe others jump on the bandwagon by now. Chances are not always good, but Hymnal only, we are loosing ground. Do I support Hymns, absolutely. But I am thinking of the future church worship, and where it is going. Trying to keep the youths in its churches.

I know it's frowned upon to listen to any type of music that is contemporary in nature... but coming from a Charismatic background... I'm used to listening to music with a beat. However, I do not feel wordly or have worldly desires when I listen to praise and worship music, such as: "Shout to the Lord", "From The Inside Out", or "Awesome God" or any of those... Now I don't really enjoy the rock/rap movement within the Christian music industry... These songs do put me in membrance of Christ and His sacrifice and free gift of Salvation... and I give Him glory. Am I sinning since I do not feel convicted by listening to these songs?

This is something that I've forgotten the argument against such things. Give me a good Bible answer. Tell me why such amazing ministries and music is so evil and wrong.

I read this article that studied the importance of Congregational Singing in church and I wondered how important is it to your congregation? Some churches have congregations that can really SING! while others prefer to sit while a choir of a certain few people sing. How does your church deal with singing/music? Here is a link to the PDF article that piqued my interest... etd-submit.etsu.edu/etd/theses/available/etd-0330102-011956/unrestricted/BennettR041902.pdf -

So much has been said about Christian rock, ccm, southern gospel, classical music, etc. My concern is the very subtle way that supposedly mild secular music can enter into a Christian's life and then lead them into other more destructive forms of music....I guess what I'm trying to say is that the flesh is never satisfied.... that there is ALWAYS a danger when we open the door just a peak, then satan steps his dirty foot in and we have "given place to the devil"; we have made provision for the flesh, so to speak. I've hear young and old alike say that the old "bubble gum" rock, like groups from the 60's and early 70's is harmless COMPARED to what we have today. Isn't t…

Since God woke me from my sinful, worldly music obsessed stupor, and now having eyes to see and ears to hear, I cannot believe how stupid and self absorbed it all seems to me now. I used to perform for audiences of thousands and would attend the same of other musicians. I would dance and behave like most others around me. A few people have been re-editing music videos, removing the music from them and adding fitting sound effects. Some of them show just how absolutely ridiculous it all is when the music is taken away. The videos below capture the essence of what I see when I happen to view music related things now.
