5 year old, Caleb Goolsby sings as I accompany him with guitar. He's singing......."God's Little People". His mother and dad are so proud of him. He's such a blessing to our church. PreacherE and his wife Kendrajoy play a big part in Caleb's discipleship. With this talent at such a young age is God given.

This was something that I was thinking about today. I came across some videos on youtube of Christians doing "body worship," which is named correctly since it is usually focused on the worship and glorification of the body and most often accompanied by rock music. However, the Bible does say, "praise him with the timbrel and dance." There aren't many verses on dance in Scripture and extremely few in the New Testament, half of which are found in the girl dancing before Herod. It does seem, though, that God approves of dancing to glorify Him. Obviously, most dances that claim to worship Him today are just a part of the secularization of Christianity. So, my question is, …

God Made Music God is the great Maker and creator of music. His LOVE has caused my ears to hear much more beautiful music than what man could ever think of making. Have you ever heard a songbird whistling or tweeting or warbling off key? Nay, but tis nary a bird that does not sing without the purity and tone that is "right on pitch". Have you wondered about the sound of tiny minute little seeds and flower petals being carried about by a soft and gently blowing breeze? How about the sound of trees that are "clapping their hands" and the volume of "the mountains and the hills [that] shall break forth into singing"? Consider what it surely must be like for someone that is de…

Heard this "worship song" while watching a video of a local church in my area...there were a couple of verses repeated sporadically, but for the vast majority of the 9 minutes they sang the song, this is what it consisted of... I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. Mods, please feel free to close this thread if you want. I don't mean to stir up trouble by bringing up a locked topic, but there was a question asked in another thread that was closed about the meaning of a song and I just wanted to clear up some confusion. "The Great Speckled Bird" wasn't written by Roy Acuff (as someone referred to as "some country singer"), but by the Reverend Guy Smith. It is based on Jeremiah 12:9, which says "Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour." The passage as a whole tells us that, although the wicked surround God's people, God will …

where I can find the song "Sin Will Take You Farther Than You Want To Go?" I used to have it in a book which has disappeared. The Cathedrals sang it on one of their albums. Thanks in advance.
No Rock or CCM.
Rock = Rock and Roll music or lyrics. CCM = Christian Contemporary Music What other rules are there, just to clarify things?

My search for a place to dialogue with independent Baptists almost ended in disappointment. Many websites claiming to have IFB distinctives, attract the foul and carnal. My perception is that this site keeps that element in check. I recently launched a website as a tool to assist people under the guidance of my music ministry. I don’t have any commercial motives and freely provide materials that will help like-minded Christians learn to play music that glorifies God. Here’s a summary of my testimony. Before I was bought with the blood of Christ, I lived for and played secular music. Once I was saved, I tried to play the hymns on guitar but it sounded too much like…

It is truly amazing to me how far the church has come in America....I heard an illustration that the church always stays a certain distance from the world; but that as the world gets worse, the church follows at the same distance...to where now, the church stands today where the world stood 40 years ago. We don't have cable tv, only regular broadcast stations, but after watching a black and white Sherlock Holmes DVD ( :D ) hubby was flipping through channels and on a PBS station John Denver was having a concert like event (he was my mom's favorite until we started going to church when I was about eight years old, then she threw all the records out.) What amazed me is …

Music without words 1 2
by Ron- 21 replies

Here's an interesting topic for discussion: Many people here would agree that music itself is not amoral, which is why several including myself believe you can't put Christian words with bad music and call it pleasing to God. But what about music without words? I'm not talking about instrumentals of hymns and spiritual songs where one can relate to the words by hearing the music alone. But what about something like a beautifully arranged symphony or a tune that may have all the elements of good musical style without words. Because they do not have words uplifting and praising God, does that mean the music is neutral or can it still give glory to God by the musical elemen…

It is written by Habakkuk as a song, but I only know 2 allusions in hymns - "Revive thy work, O Lord" & "Sometimes a light surprises." It is written for the medieval carol tune "Personent Hodie" God above, we have heard of your works in your Word, now revive in our day works of gracious power in this needy hour. In your wrath O Lord, In your wrath O Lord, In your wrath, yet once more, Lord remember mercy. 2. When God came to our land mighty power in your hand all your tribes marched with you, singing out your glory as they told the story. Mighty shouts of praise, Mighty shouts of praise, Shouts of praise filled the land, made the heathen tremble.…

What's your belief of female music leaders? The article link below seems like it was written just to keep things with the times and not an article I necessarily agree with. So what's your beliefs on woman choir directors, woman leading congregationals and so forth? https://baptistnews.com/article/now-theres-a-movement-to-bar-women-as-worship-leaders-in-churches/

Hi Guys, I was visiting at Baptist Church in this area. I had not been to this Baptist Church in some 20 years. and I must admit, I was shocked. When I first got saved, it was strictly Hymns and that was it. I was quite shocked when they were singing contemporary music. Folks, as an ex-pentecostal, of 20 years. I can tell you, they were singing the SAME songs of the Pentecostal Churches!!!!!! I was totally stunned! :? :freak: :Ticking Since when do Baptist's sing the same songs of the Apostate Church? (see 2 Timothy 3) Thanks be to the Lord, that the Church I am a member of, ISN'T singing those songs! We're sticking to the hymns! This link better explai…
