If you do not know who the Getty's are, please look them up before posting. Have you noticed that the new Majesty hymnal contains music from the Gettys/Sovereign Grace? What is your opinion on that? I find it an outrage that they are digging through garbage to find good music. I think it is sad I can't just buy a CD from a trusted source without knowing if there is CCM behind the music. Why aren't pastors stepping up and writing the Hamiltons? Why aren't we fighting for our music? Why have we stopped caring about associations? Don't people understand as soon as a weaker Christian hears you listening to something like "Amazing Grace My Chains are Gone" they will automatic…

Hi everyone. What is so wrong with Christian Contemporary Music and Christian Rock? I listen to both on a regular basis. I guess I just don't understand why Christian Rock and Christian Contemporary Music is frowned upon at this board.

I was reading Psalm 22 earlier, was blessed by it and remembered this song, "It Was For Me". This is such a beautiful song; I hope you enjoy it as well. Why leave a Heav'nly mansion? Why choose a simple stall? Why wander poor and homeless, The King and Lord of all? Why heal a lonely beggar? Why cause the blind to see? The Light of all creation, Shining there for me. It was for me He cried, for me He died, For me He shed His blood upon the tree. It was for me He came, for me His shame; For me, oh, praise His name, it was for me. Why stay in Olive's garden? Why spend the night in prayer? Why suffer such betrayal, In anguish kneeli…

**This is not an endorsement of everything said by Terry Watkins, but this was in my email and I wanted to pass it on: The following information is excerpted from Bible Guidelines for Music by Terry Watkins, http://www.av1611.org/cqguide.html -- Even the secular, satanic rockers the Rolling Stones admit rock is NOT music -- but NOISE!

What do you guys think of Frank Garlock? I grew up with his music and our church still has his hymnal. Recently, I read an article that makes the case that Dr. Garlock mixes pagan New Age mysticism with the Bible to suport his viewpoints. It gave specific examples and scared me to death. Is Garlock teach the Bible or just his own opinions?

Let me start with, yes, it may have already been discussed, but I'm a newbee and am going to ask anyway. I would like to hear some different perspectives on music for worship services including "specials" as they say. Let also say, I am not trying to start a huge debate or argument. I have heard it said that music should be limited to hymns and even with no piano all the way to Christian rock is suitable for specials. Now I don't think there is even a question when it comes to the "Christain rock", but what about milder forms of praise music or southern gospel? Any tasteful and respectful opinions on this. (It is always best to provide scripture to back your doctrin…

Why is that we fundamentalists reject CCM because it uses the Rock and Roll beat, yet we embrace Southern Gospel and other styles that use the same exact Piano Rhythms that were used in Ragtime, Swing and other early genres from the early 1900s. Do a study on the history of the musical genres of Ragtime, Blues, Honkey Tonk, and Boogie Woogie. I really am tired of this hypocrisy, you either must accept all genres as being valid, or you must reject all these other genres that borrow the worlds bar scene rhythms. does 50 years passing by somehow make these genres and styles that were used to promote filth somehow make these now sanctified? after studying and …

I have been greived for years over the Southern Gospel music industry. So often, especially here in the South, pastors really give rock, Christian rock, and CCM the dickens, but leave Southern Gospel music alone. We would cringe if someone wanted to sing a Christian rap song, or a Christian jazz song, in a conservative congregation, but we make excuses when it comes to the Southern Gospel crowd. Just to give you a peak into Satans true colors in the SGM crowd read the following article about Bill Gaither and his allegiance to the Southern Gospel Sodomites. http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/CCM/marsha_stevens.htm Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call ev…

I was just wondering if anyone would share what hymns they feel are unBiblical or otherwise bad because of who wrote it. In other words, are there any mainstream hymns that anyone here doesn't approve of and why?

Amy Grant is a complete hypocrite. She says that she's for God and sings songs about him. Then she goes and gets divorced and remarried and has shown no repentence or sorrow for this sin.

Favorite Hymns? 1 2 3

Ok, title is obvious, so here's one of my favorite hymns. So Little Time By John R. Rice (1) So little time! The harvest will be over. Our reaping done, we reapers taken Home. Report our work to Jesus, Lord of harvest, And hope He'll smile and that He'll say, "Well done!" Chorus (2) Today we reap, or miss our golden harvest! Today is given us lost souls to win. Oh then to save some dear ones from the burning. Today we'll go to bring some sinner in. (3) How many times I should have strongly pleaded; How often did I feel to strictly warn. The Spirit moved, oh had I pled for Jesus! The grain is fallen, lost ones not reborn. …

My church has a strong conviction against CCM and worldly music. We use our hymn book during worship service, so most of the Christian songs I know is only what is found on our hymn book. I am just wondering if there is such a thing as Christian love songs or all songs should only be for the Saviour. If there is, can you tell me the title or can you post the lyrics? Lastly, if you are married what was your wedding song?.. I'm just curious. God Bless you all. Jeny

I have always wondered what the reference to a prayer wheel in the song means. The only time I ever heard about a prayer wheel was in buddahism. That is the only religion that uses one.\ If the reference was alluding to that in Buddahism, would that be enough to stop you from singing the song? If not, Why. It is absolutely unscriptual. Why have it in a Gospel song?

We had two great old hymns today, Sinners Jesus will receive; Sound this word of grace to all Who the heavenly pathway leave, All who linger, all who fall. This can bring them back again Christ receiveth sinful men. Refrain Sing it o’er and over again; Christ receiveth sinful men; Make the message clear and plain: Christ receiveth sinful men. Shepherds seek their wandering sheep, O'er the mountains bleak and cold, Jesus such a watch doth keep O'er the lost ones of his fold, Seeking them o'er moor and fen, Christ receiveth sinful men. Refrain Sick and sorrowful and blind I with all my sins draw nigh; O my Saviour thou canst find Help for sinners …
