The following is excerpted from the book Israel: Past, Present and Future, which is available from Way of Life Literature -- www.wayoflife.org Bible prophecy describes a powerful man who will rule the world for a short period before the return of Christ. He is called by many names, including Antichrist, Man of Sin, Little Horn, the Beast, Son of Perdition, and that Wicked. “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and the…

Bro Matt, Where can I make a reply to the Tithing/Church Lottery thread? I'd like to say that even if tithing weren't given as a directive in the Scriptures that I believe giving to the Church should be expected simply to support the organism (some would say organization) to which one is a "member." Even the heathen give significant amounts of money on a recurring basis to belong as a "member" to Health Clubs, Lodges, and other associations. Should the believer do less for the Church of Jesus Christ?

http://jordankurecki.sermon.tv/main/main/20083480 Here's a sermon I preached recently. It covers what Repentance is, and how to use the 10 commandments to lead someone to Christ.

CHURCH OF CHRIST [Comments in brackets by Pastor David Warner - Faithful Baptist Church Omak, WA] In a book entitled ‘Where The Saints Meet’, Mac Lynn states that the total number of churches of Christ in the United States and her territories is about 13,410 with a total membership of 1,277,004. They believe that they are the only true Christian church and that they can trace their roots back to that first church in Jerusalem (sounds just like we independent Baptists…sort of). The Church of Christ claims to reserve for itself the only scriptural name for a New Testament church, although the term "church of Christ" is found nowhere in the Bible. “We are undenomi…

Greetings! The Testimony of the Bible on Cosmetics Biblical Evidence Presuppositions: 1.) Scripture is sufficient for teaching us how to live: All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Tim 3:16-17). It can make us ?perfect.? Every word of ?all scripture? is profitable for teaching us. This includes the large portions of the Bible that are not direct commands or didactic statements, but narratives and examples. We are to get teaching from the examples of Scripture: ?Now all these things…

Do the Scriptures teach word preservation or do they teach thought or meaning preservation? Terms relating to Bible doctrine should be defined and explained. From my reading and study of the Scriptures, I see the Scriptures teaching a preservation of the exact, specific words that proceeded out of the mouth of God by inspiration to the prophets and apostles. According to their preface to the 1611 and according to their writings, I understand the KJV translators to maintain or teach that the preservation of the Scriptures concerned the original language words given to the prophets and apostles. Would the scriptural teaching that no words of men were to be adde…

We know from 1 Corinthians 11 that women are to have their head covered. What is their covering? Hair? A veil? What is it? What does the Lord say? God bless, Joel ><>. 2 Chronicles 7:14.

I've been thinking lately about the issue of remarriage after divorce. I have studied this out for myself, but I'm curious as to what you all think on the issue. This is not in reference to pastoral qualifications, and it's not a discussion of the Biblicality of divorce itself, but rather whether or not a person is ever allowed to remarry after a divorce. May I get your ?

PrintUpdated November 19, 2013 (first published July 30, 1998) (David Cloud, Fundamental Baptist Information Service, P.O. Box 610368, Port Huron, MI 48061, 866-295-4143) - Bill and Gloria Gaither are graduates of Anderson College, a Church of God school, and they attend a Nazarene church (“Church of the Nazarene,” About.com). They have written some very popular and well-known gospel music, such as “He Touched Me,” “Thanks to Calvary,” and “There’s Something about That Name.” Since the early 1990s, the Gaither’s Homecoming CD and video series has dramatically increased the popularity of Southern Gospel music in this generation. Sadly, the Gaithers have used their vas…

Here is a question for those who hold a favorable view toward Reformed or Calvinistic doctrine. If you had to state your two strongest positions concerning TULIP what two positions would they be? Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Grace or Perseverance of the Saints. Please chose the two strongest points and tell me why you hold to those points as being the strongest. I would like for this discussion to be civil and not condescending or attacking.

I was at Walmart this morning, having a new battery installed in my truck, and bumped into someone I've done business with in the past. He's active in the SBC, knows I'm a Christian, invited me to a local meeting with R C. Sproul Jr. as the guest speaker. The brochure he handed me says that RCJr. is a Presbyterian: I didn't know that. Anyway, I was curious as to how his teachings compared to his Calvinist father and this was the first thing that came up:. http://rcsprouljr.com/blog/ask-rc/rc-babies-die/ That didn't appear to give a definitive answer to the question put forth and neither does this one except, in an indirect and roundabout way, to say that no: Christ is not…

I have been doing a study on giants in ancient history, sometimes referred to as the Nephilim of the Bible (Numbers 13:32-33, Genesis 6:1-4), Sons of Anak, The Anakim, "Mound builders," Rephaim, The Adena, Ronnongwetowanca, or the Watchers. I am finding a lot of obscure references to old bones from all over the world---in Europe, Asia and North and South America, some of these refer to skeletons 10, 15, 25 feet and even bigger. Of course some of these are going to be mere hoaxes (like the photoshopped giant human skeleton found in Saudi Arabia) and/or legends, but it is interesting that so many cultures have made mention of these giant men, the Nephilim, in ancient tim…

I've come across many Baptist pastors and parishoners who listen to the speakers in this clip on a regular basis. They are being filled with the heretical teachings of these people. I pray they'll learn from this clip.

I have had no problem believing that the unsaved go to Hell as soon as they die (Luke 16 eg) but I once read a comment from an Evangelical Bible teacher that no-one is in Hell at the present time. This person does believe in Eternal Punishment and argues against annihilation but does not accept that the unsaved are, at present, in Hell. Your comments please.

This is a great article that describes what I believe is the Biblical view of verses which talk about God's sovereign election and verses that talk about His will to save all people. Both are true, in my opinion. The reason I am posting this is because people here keep pulling a handful of verses on me and telling me that proves their opinion. This is my answer to those OBjections. It is a long read, but it is my final say on this matter. If anyone wants to discuss any of those verses further, I don't want to until you have read this article. http://www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/Articles/ByDate/1995/1580_Are_There_Two_Wills_in_God/

I've been thinking about starting this topic for a while... so here goes! Psalms 133:1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Since when did "unity" become an ecumenical belief instead of a Bible-based belief? Where does the Bible teach that we're supposed to separate from fellow Christians who believe the same Bible?? I'm bringing this up, mostly because of an attitude I've noticed on this board and in real life. People make statements about separating from and not being able to fellowship with those who interpret certain Bible doctrines differently than they do. Where does the Bible say we're supposed to separate from fe…

PrintIn February a group of prominent independent Baptist pastors produced a video praising First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, and giving their unqualified blessing to the church and the ministry of the new pastor, John Wilkerson. These pastors include the heads of the two largest IFB schools: Clarence Sexton on the east coast and Paul Chappell on the west coast. The following are excerpts from the video “Congratulations From Our Friends” that was shown at First Baptist Church, Hammond, Sunday morning, February 17, 2013: Jack Trieber, North Valley Baptist Church, Santa Clara, California “[Pastor and Mrs. Wilkerson] are incredible people ... GREAT MAN of God ... T…

As I was researching something else, I ran across a website about Primitive Baptists. It had a Frequently asked Q & A about Primitive Baptists. My question is, is the practice of foot-washing scriptural and if so why don't IFBs practice foot washing - or maybe your church does practice it? I have never been in a church that could be called "foot-washing baptists." John explains that, at the end of the Last Supper, the Lord began to wash the feet of the disciples. After performing this great act of humility, the Lord said, If I then, your Lord and master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should…
