A close friend of my family had suggested that I go to church with him (the day before Christmas) to get some feedback on the Pastor's sermon, so I decided to go to "test the spirits" (which I believe is my spiritual gift). I sat in the front row and we were the first ones there. The Pastor kept walking back and forth in front of me speaking in what sounded like gibberish (in his mind, he's thinking that he is speaking an angelic language, or he knows he's simply a fraud -- or both). For some reason, I had an ominous feeling that something wasn't right when he kept walking back and forth "speaking in tongues". During the sermon (which was lame to say the least). He said d…

There are MANY who underestimate the charisma and deceptive influence of the devil and his loyal followers. One might ask how he is able to lead an army of billions to march to battle towards the rebuilt Jerusalem when Christ reigns for 1,000 years. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: [for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord], as the waters cover the sea. And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. (Isaiah 11:9-10) And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out…

A CHRISTIAN WOMAN’S TESTIMONY ABOUT THE POPULARITY OF ESSENTIAL OILS (Friday Church News Notes, September 28, 2018, www.wayoflife.org , fbns@wayoflife.org , 866-295-4143) - Following is a Christian woman’s experience in an independent Baptist Church in regard to essential oils. Please note that there is a use of oils that is legitimate and has nothing to do with the occult, but the New Age is an ever-present danger today. “This church introduced some things that I had never heard of before: Detox foot baths, iridology and natural paths. And essential oils. ‘What is ailing you? I have an oil for that!’ was always the response. And that was okay with m…

The Satan plan was to destroy Jesus since His conception so that God's divine decree would not come to pass. We can be assured that as Jesus suffered in this world . . . so will we as children of the Most High. Attempting to overcome the Evil One on a daily basis will give way to constant defeat. It is ONLY through the indwelling of the Godhead are we able to gain victory; and all other methods will result in utter defeat. Paul says to the Thessalonians that as believers "That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto." (1 Thes. 3:3-4), and in my observation and experience the only question is the form these will…

Quack diets and programs have a strange, captivating appeal to many people. They aren’t mere users; they are disciples. They are converts. And they can’t help but evangelize everyone they meet about the glories of their quack diets and therapies. One preacher friend wrote as follows: “Thank you, Bro. Cloud, for your research on diet plans. You are showing logic and wisdom in something that my wife and I have been fighting for years. We have had to separate from many, many of our friends in the ministry because of their outrageous stances on diet. We cannot be around them without being persecuted for our ‘lack of concern’ for our wellbeing. In ———— church in ———-, …

One of the Baptist RSS Auto Feeds had an article discussing sin -- and how no one is sinless. We are ALL still in a body made of flesh and bones (Grk. "sarx"). It is ONLY at *Glorification* that we BECOME sinless when we are given a spiritual body incapable of committing sin. So can we be sinless? Sadly, there were some Puritans who believed that we can attain sinless perfection. For very good reason, scripture never puts things this way -- as if not sinning might be something equivalent to dieting or training for a race. We are NOT to sin . . . period. But we do sin, and when we do, we are to confess our sins (Lev. 5:5; Ps. 32:5; 38:18; 66:18; Prov. 28:13; cf. Matt.…

The following is from the July 2018 edition of The Pastor’s Authority and the Church Member’s Responsibility , available as a free eBook for viewing and downloading from www.wayoflife.org. In giving miscellaneous suggestion to church members, we would also say that we must learn to exercise keen spiritual discernment, distinguishing between the important and the less important. One Sunday morning I was talking with a man who attended one of my Bible conferences. He had driven 100 miles, he said, because he reads my material and wanted to hear me speak. I asked him about his home church, and he said that he attended a church that was “formerly Assembli…

A few thoughts came into my mind as I read an article here on OB regarding "types" of bodies mentioned in Scripture. I often heard in bible discussions regarding what could have happened if Adam made the correct choice and did NOT eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Some might say . . . "would Adam be able to procreate with Eve had sin not entered the human race resulting in death? If so, then I see some conflicts. People are born into this world as babies and need to grow in order to reach adulthood through aging". I do not believe that sin was necessary for procreation. As the article states: God gave Adam and Eve the mandate to "be fruitful and mult…

I want to say from the outset that there are many unbelievers, and even well-meaning Christians that have a proclivity of incorporating the word "luck" (as a habit) into their daily vocabulary; and I know all too well that they most certainly do NOT believe in luck due to their understanding of Scripture. Wishing someone "good luck" may bring about positive results, and conversely, just the opposite. I can't tell you how many times I hear people say, "Good Luck" each day. Let's get one thing cleared and settled: there is absolutely no such thing as LUCK. The word *chance* is only used 6 times in the entire bible (Heb. "qara/miqreh/pegha") and (Grk. "sugkurian/ei"); s…

The following is from Old Testament History and Geography , available from Way of Life Literature. 1 Samuel 17 This is one of the most famous Bible stories, and it has thrilled countless Sunday School children; but it is not a children’s fairy tale. It is the true story of a young man who was zealous for the living God and who, by faith, overcame a giant warrior with a slingshot. It is not just an interesting children’s story; it is a challenge for God’s people of every age to win victories over the devil by exercising faith. The place The valley of Elah is east of Gath and west of Bethlehem. The Israelis camped on the n…

Our workplace is by far one of the most challenging places for a Christian to be at in my opinion. Everyday presents a "new challenge" for us; but it also grants us the opportunity to be an example of what and who a TRUE Christian ought to be. We will encounter struggles and obstacles from fellow co-workers and managers who will put us under extreme pressure at times. Why is God allowing this? And how are we to behave ourselves when confronted with these things? If we were unbelievers, the devil would have no reason to seek to trip us up (cf. Eph. 2:2; Job 2:1-6; Zech. 3:1-2; 2 Cor. 2:11; Rev. 12:10), no desire to bait us into behavior which might compromise or damag…

Have you ever invited someone to your church only to have them whine about how everything the Pastor preaches on is heretical? "The Pastor baptizes in Jesus' name ONLY, and not in the Trinitarian formula -- so he's a heretic!" "If you take your Sabbath on a Sunday rather than on a Saturday . . . then you're a heretic!" So what exactly is considered heretical according to the Word of God? A man that is an [heretick] after the first and second admonition reject; knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself. (Titus 3:10-11) Heresy, as it is often used today bears little relation to anything in the Bible. People use the word no…

I was reminded this morning, of how rare it is, to be totally right with God; Because as a committed Christian, the Lord may continue to “daily” speak to your heart, with instructions and directions, even if you have things wrong in your life. I realized this as I was praying for a fellow Christian, who is in clear disobedience to the Lord in some areas of their life; But at the same time, I am convinced they are receiving instructions and guidance from the LORD. This caused me to be very concerned, about my own walk with the LORD. Because, maybe I have some clear disobedience in my life, but I am unaware of it, because I am so busy following God’s daily instru…

Me and a brother in Christ had a discussion about the legalization of marijuana; and it was his stance that since marijuana is legalized in California, it is OK to smoke it, and used Romans 13 to justify his position. In my view, there are many reasons for anyone who calls themselves a Christian to stay away from "recreational" drugs of all types -- and that would be equally true even if they were legal. As to the social implications of the issue and the political process by which this issue is being addressed, I prefer not to comment. There are plenty of things that happen in our society that would get any "normal" person "riled up", but seeking political solutions to ou…
