"Jonah 2:10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land." "Jonah 3:1-4 And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days journey. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." I had always been under the impression that the word of the Lord came to Jonah the second time immediately after the whale spit him out. BUT …

I have been noticing the new "Strongest Strong's Concordance" for the 21st Century. I looked to see that Zondervan published it. I have a couple of the older ones. My question is: which one(s) are more true to the KJV? Or is there even a difference? I wanted to give my children concordances for gifts, but I want to purchase the right ones.

Why are you King James only? or if you aren't why not? I found that many people from both sides of the debate are ignorant about a lot of things, many often parrot what they have heard from others, and many have not done critical thinking on these issues. I would say that my main reasons is that I absolutely do not believe that the textual theories of Wescott and Hort are valid, and I believe the critical text is based on minority manuscripts because of the cultic following and unquestioning loyalty to their textual theories (Oldest and Best Manuscripts blah blah blah). on the flip side I have seen many King James Only people with some pretty lacking defenses …

I know there are differences of opinions on this subject so let's not lose fellowship over this. This is just my own work through the Bible. How Old is the Earth? In order to get a true Idea of how old the Earth is we must compare spiritual things with spiritual. God’s word shows us a creation of the earth where the morning stars sang at it’s creation. Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy? Now this would put the creation of Angelic beings like arch-angels, angles, cherubims, seraphim and cherubs before the earth’s creation. There are some who puts the creation of these during the six days work of God which is…

As I was researching something else, I ran across a website about Primitive Baptists. It had a Frequently asked Q & A about Primitive Baptists. My question is, is the practice of foot-washing scriptural and if so why don't IFBs practice foot washing - or maybe your church does practice it? I have never been in a church that could be called "foot-washing baptists." John explains that, at the end of the Last Supper, the Lord began to wash the feet of the disciples. After performing this great act of humility, the Lord said, If I then, your Lord and master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should…

I have been talking about this extensively with a friend of mine. We both have daughters who are three years old. His daughter has not yet expressed an interest in taking communion. Mine has, and we have decided to allow her to participate. My friend has a real hang up about this, believing that communion is solely for those who have already made a decision to trust in Christ. My view is that my wife and I have made that decision, and our household is part of the New Covenant under christ. We have committed to raising her in the faith and to direct her hopeful that she wll grow in faith and make her own decision to follow Christ. As my household is full participa…

Can anyone help me on this matter? I was wondering if Xerxes/Ahasuerus (the king in Esther, and mentioned in Ezra 4:6) is the father of king Artaxerxes in Ezra and Nehemiah? I read that he was a few days ago, and now that I am reading through those three books, I am trying to discern whether this is true of not. Alot of stuff to wade through in the commentaries - so I was wondering if someone had some clear info on this issue? If this is true, it might give us a little glimpse of the influences behind the scene. Thank you.

Quoted from http://www.againstdispensationalism.com/95theses.shtml Disputation of NiceneCouncil.com On The Power and Efficacy of Dispensationalism -or- The Ninety-Five Theses Against Dispensationalism Preface What follows should not be interpreted to mean that NiceneCouncil.com nor the historic Bible believing church would place every dispensationalist outside of the Christian faith. We acknowledge that most are dedicated to the foundational orthodox doctrines of Christianity. Unlike the sixteenth century dispute over the doctrine of justification, this is an in-house discussion, a debate among evangelical Christians. We recognize and treasure all born again believ…

Brethren, We are currently studying the prophecies of the Old Testament that give us detailed information concerning the 1000 Year Reign of Christ, the Millenium, as depicted in Revelation 20:4-7. All of your comments, thoughts, and questions are welcomed and appreciated. We will be studying 19 passages in the Old Testament that correlate with Revelation 20:4-7. These 19 passages (or lessons), are listed in my September 13, 2015 post in this thread. Each passage is considered one lesson for this study. God bless all of you. Alan September 7, 2016 update Salyan, Thank you for the break on the Revelation chapter 19-22 study. We do appre…

In a recent post on another topic, this comment was made: "I believe that when all is said and done, we will have nothing but panty-waste, sissified chicken-livered preachers wasting our time for their own popularity: and I believe that those who spread their poison will be partakers of their evil deeds." Now, while I see an obvious implication in this, I actually wanted to address the main context of where it has come fomr, which is David Cloud. David Cloud is not a popular man with many, which I am sure is fine with him-most of us who are willing to take a stand, whether he, or the person who posted the above comment, or most of us here at Online Bapti…

In 1 Timothy 2:9-10 it says 9In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; 10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works. I looked up the word apparel and it means a long flowing robe. I know that in bible times men also wore robes or skirts. In Roman History it wasn't until about 300 AD that men wore trousers. The first mention of trousers was a barbarian tribe invading the Roman Empire. I also know that the priests wore trousers as undergarments in the old testament. My question is, why if women have to wear skirts or dres…

I know there were four lepers(which were not named) which found the abandoned Syrian camp and reported it to the king and I had questioned before that Gehazi was mentioned in 2 Kings 8, seemingly after he was made a leper. But I never heard this one before....... What say you?

From Wikipedia: The word culottes is of French language origin, and is the diminutive form of the word "cul," which means "backside," from the Latin "culus." Historically, the word "culottes" has always referred to the knee-breeches commonly worn by gentlemen of the European upper-classes from the late Middle Ages or Renaissance through the early 19th century. Culottes were normally closed and fastened about the leg, to the knee, by either buttons, a strap and buckle, or by a draw-string. During the French Revolution (late 18th century), the working-class revolutionaries were known as the "sans-culottes" (literally, "without culottes"), and derived their name from their …

On any given Sunday, there will be Pastor’s who will stand behind the pulpit and will preach a well-known message out of the 3rd Chapter of the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi. “Will a man ROB GOD?,” will boom through the air with emphasis on ‘rob God.’ Many preacher’s will put the emphasis on ‘rob God’ to instill an automatic fear into the very minds of the hearer. It causes the automatic cringing of the people the preacher wants to put in a spirit of condemnation. “Yet YOU HAVE ROBBED ME. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for YE HAVE ROBBED ME, even this whole nation.” Every single believer in the…

I would like to know what your Biblical perspective is on what will happen to a baby during the rapture? Will the baby stay or be raptured out? I think this should be an interesting discussion.

"Lamb's book of life" is only mentioned once n the Book of Revelation, then "book of life of the Lamb" is also mentioned once. "Book of life", on the other hand, is mentioned six times. One who has faith....a believer. 1 John 5:4 the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, Whose name will He NOT blot out? 1 John 5:4....a believer. but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Faith...overcomes the world....…
