I read the KJV and my church uses only KJV, but I've been doing some research and I was wondering if I could get some opinions about the 1611 vs 1769 version. It seems to me that the 1769 was just an update of the 1611 version. How does this make it different from other modern versions?

A refined KJV, a very good companion volume to the KJV. Not A Replacement INTRODUCTION. The principal alterations in the language of the common version of the Scriptures, made in this edition, stated and explained. 'Who' is substituted for 'which', when it refers to persons. 'Its' is substituted for 'his', when it refers to plants and things without life. 'To' is used for 'unto'. This latter word is not found in the Saxon books, and as it is never used in our present popular language, it is evidently a modern compound. The first syllable 'un' adds nothing to the signification or force of 'to'; but by increasing the number of unimportant syllables, rather i…

2 Corinthians 1:12-14: "For our REJOICING is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in SIMPLICITY (haplotnti) and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our CONVERSATION in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward...(14) As also ye have acknowledged us in part, that we are your REJOICING, even as ye also are ours in the day of THE Lord Jesus.? There are several issues to be addressed in these two verses; some are translational and others are textual. First of all, the word "simplicity" is found in the Majority of all texts, D, and Sinaiticus correction, as well as the Old Latin and the Syriac. It is the reading found in W…

2 Corinthians 11:3 ?the simplicity that is in Christ? or ?your sincere and pure devotion to Christ?? ?But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from THE SIMPLICITY THAT IS IN CHRIST. For if he that cometh preacheth ANOTHER JESUS, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive ANOTHER SPIRIT, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. --- For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if …

And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country. And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it. And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not. Then he took his eldest son tha…

[bible]2 Peter 1:20[/bible] This passage has recently been used by several friends of mine both online and at church or work to justify certain interpretations of select passages of the Bible. I have typically heard this verse used in the context of one person denying that another person's view of God's Word is binding in any way in his own life. (For the record, that is a completely anthropocentric view of God's Word and, therefore, foolish.) For example, I believe that [bible]Ephesians 5:18[/bible] is scriptural grounds for stating that we should not get drunk. Another professing Christian will inevitably say to me that he doesn't believe my interpretation of tha…

2 Samuel 14:14 Does God take away life? False Doctrine in the NKJV, NIV, NASB Proverbs 14:5 tells us: "A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies." There are many lies found in the new bible versions and it is the accumulation of such lies that reveal them to be false witnesses to the whole truth of God. One such lie is found in 2 Samuel 14:14. The context is when Absalom had slain Amnon because he raped his sister Tamar. Absalom fled to Geshur and was there for three years, yet the soul of king David longed for his son Absalom. Joab decides to put words in the mouth of a wise woman from Tekoah and he sends her to speak to the king. …

I believe what the KJB says here, that "the brother of" is part of God's Word in 2 Samuel 21:19. It is apparently not in today's Hebrew manuscripts, so I think the obvious solution is that there was a scribal error that the KJB fixes, preserving God's Word by the testimony of 1 Chronicles 20:5. Does anybody know of any evidence for "the brother of" being found in any early sources?

2 Samuel 21:8 Michal or Merab? Hello Brother Kinney! I had the privilege to read some of your articles. They were very helpful in defending Gods word! I have been challenged with a question. I am not sure if I have the correct answer. Can you please help me out with the below question. 2 Samuel 6:23 - Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death. 2 Samuel 21:8 - But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite: Did Michal have sons? How can this …

What does this Bible verse mean? 2 Thessalonians 3:6 "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us."

2Ch 28:1 Ahaz [was] twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem: but he did not [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, like David his father: 20+16=36 2Ch 29:1 Hezekiah began to reign [when he was] five and twenty years old, and he reigned nine and twenty years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Abijah, the daughter of Zechariah. 36-25=11 See the problem, When Ahaz reign ended, and he died, he was 36. Hezekiah began to reign, presumably after Ahaz died, at 25 years old. So Ahaz @ 36 has a 25 year old son? Whassup? This is NOT a criticism of the KJB, other versions read the same way.

My wife's computer and printer are both wireless. I've performed the setup MANY times and some of it works for a while and then dies. So I began this morning attempting to install the printer software on the computer one last time. I must have run through the setup about 5 times and it was time for lunch. So, we sat down for our lunch and during prayer I asked the Lord to help me successfully install the printer for my wife. One half hour later the installation was complete along with the "control console app" (which we had never seen installed before). Works like a charm! Prayer...so simple! Praise God! I had overlooked the files associated with a "full" installation a…

III John 4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." Proverbs 2:8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. I gave each of my children a bracelet with the inscription III Jn. 4 on the back. This is the joy of a father to know his children will be in heaven. I thought the verse in Pro. 2 went well with III Jn. "walk in truth" and "preserveth the way of his saints." Give God the glory! Had to edit the title "III" became "Iii" thus the "3" instead

Over the past few weeks I've heard several pastors and ministries talking about the "400th anniversary of the English Bible". I know this year is the 400th anniversary of the KJB and I also know there were English translations of the Bible prior to 1611. What reason would Christian pastors and ministries have in celebrating the "400th anniversary of the English Bible", which is actually a lie, rather than celebrating the truth that it is the 400th anniversary of a specific Bible, the KJB? I was reminded of this again yesterday when my wife forgot to shut her radio off in the kitchen. Before I cut it off I heard them talking about the "400th anniversary of the Eng…

In light of recent archaeological evidence (http://www.americanvision.org/articlear ... -10-05.asp), is it possible that 616 is the number of the beast and not 666? 616 has been a known variant for some time. It (and 666) could refer to Nero -- the 666 total is a numeric equal to Nero's name in Hebrew; 616 is his name calculated in Latin. PErsonally, I think that 666 is the true number, inspite of how many people are jumping on this new bandwagon.

Probably just more garbage from Gnostics or Essenes but I thought this but be of interest. I found it interesting that there were "metal books" back 2,000 years ago. If these are authentic than the KJV tranlators were correct in using the word "book" instead of "scroll". Of course, "book" is considered an error by today's bible correctors since they claim there were no books, only scrolls 2,000 years ago. It seems there were books back 2,000 years ago. Here's the link. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1372741/Hidden-cave-First-portrait-Jesus-1-70-ancient-books.html

I found this very interesting...A contradiction in the CT + Light on the question of which TR Mt 10:10; Mr 6:8; Lu 9:3 (ASV): no wallet for your journey, neither two coats, nor shoes, NOR STAFF: for the laborer is worthy of his food. and he charged them that they should take nothing for their journey, SAVE A STAFF ONLY; no bread, no wallet, no money in their purse; And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, NEITHER STAFF, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money;neither have two coats. In the CT, there is a plain contradiction in these verses. Matthew 10:10; Lu 9:3 has the Lord forbid taking a staff, while Mark 6:8 allows a staff. The CT is an errant, not an ine…

A CREATIONIST'S DEFENSE OF THE KING JAMES BIBLE by Henry M. Morris* In this day of rapid change, when many Christians have suddenly started using one of the many modern English translations of the Bible (NASB, NIV, NEB, NRSV, NKJV, etc.), abandoning the long-used King James Version read and loved by English-speaking people of all ages and walks of life for over ten generations, it may be appropriate to review a few of the reasons why many creationists, including this writer, still prefer to use the latter. The King James Translators One reason is that all the fifty or more translators who developed the King James Bible were godly men who believed strongly in th…
