First, let me apologize for keeping this short. I'll not be quoting any scripture because of time constraints at the moment, and I hope I can explain quickly what I was wondering about. Second...I've been thinking... I've often hear it preached (and I've preached it myself) that Eve twisted God's word by adding "neither should they touch" the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Now, at the least, if God didn't say that, that would be lying...and therefore, it would have been a sin. Eve was deceived and in the transgression, but the Bible plainly states that sin entered because of Adam's sin. We don't have every recorded word that God told them, so it is…

Here's some skinny on the KJVO myth: 1.) It's entirely man-made, without one quark of SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT, even in the KJV itself. That fact alone makes it false. 2.) While the KJV is an excellent translation, it's only one of several, and is by no means perfect. 3.) The current KJVO myth was derived from a CULT OFFICIAL'S book & spread by some dishinest authort. I shall post the details in a subsequent post. 4.) KJVO is a myth, due to its man-made origin and apocryphal details. 5.) The makers of the KJV were not KJVO! Please carefully read their preface, "To The Reader", in the AV 1611. GOD IS NOT LIMITED to the KJV in English …

The name or title "reverend" only appears 1 time in all of scripture. Psa 111:9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend ishis name. The only time it is used is as a name for God. He is the "revered one" if you will. So I can't help but wonder how we, the humble servants of God, can have the temerity to refer to ourselves, or let others refer to us, as "Reverend". We are not ever to be "revered ones", but humble servants who lead the church in grace and humility and truth by our example.

the following are some excerpts from a lesson I did on how to understand the bible, feel free to comment on them, I will post new points as time goes by: The word study in 2 Timothy 2:15 means to be diligent. The phrase rightly dividing in Greek has the idea of making a straight cut. It seems to give me the idea of precision. We need precision, carefulness, and diligence when interpreting the bible because it is like no other book. 2 Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were m…

I was wondering if anyone had thoughts as to who the elect lady and her children are in II John. At the end of the book the Apostle John also mentions her elect sister and her children. I have two thoughts.... 1. A Christian woman and her children and her biological sister that is also saved or another sister in Christ and her children. 2. Both local churches with their respective congregations. A strictly literal reading would lead more towards option 1. However, Christians are often referred to as children in Scripture, and the church is referred to as a woman, although a chaste virgin that could lead towards option 2. If you have another optio…

Whenever the three days and three nights of Matthew 12:40 is brought up in a "discussion" with 6th day crucifixion folks, they frequently argue that it is a Jewish idiom for counting any part of a day as a whole day. I wonder if anyone has documentation that shows an example from the first century or before regarding a period of time that is said to consist of a specific number of days as well as a specific number of nights where the period of time absolutey doesn't/can't include at least a part of each one of the specific number of days and at least a part of each one of the specific number of nights?

Greetings, all, Hope you are all doing great and the Lord is smiling and offering you all His kind Grace and blessings. Studying the Good Book, questions rise after questions, i hope it's a good thing. Reading the Old testament, we come across the word 'Israel' when God tells Jacob: i believe this is the first mention of that name, and then it has been mentioned multiple times on and on, especially through the book of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Hoshua, Judges, Ruth, I Samuel, II Samuel, I Kings, II Kings, I Chronicles, II Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, a good number of Psalms, starting with Psalm 14 and ending with Psalm 149, Proverbs 1, …

Hell is the place souls go that are without bodies. There were two compartments in Hell. One for those who are tormented and destined to be judged and another for those who were comforted and waiting for their redemption. When Jesus descended at his death he went to the prison of Hell. Those in prison that he preached to were not in rebellion to God but only "sometime were disobedient". They were sinners that believed in God and were waiting for the redemption so that they could be saved by Christ. The faithful of old, from before the crucifixion, were led captive from the captivity of the grave. Today there is now only one compartment for the rebellious because the…

I’ve been doing some studying into the archaic features of the KJV. i found that the difference between -eth and -est is that one is second person and another is third person. So it would seem that this would add detail to the Bible and therefore accuracy. However, practically speaking it seems to me that this doesn’t really add information because of English Syntax, it would seem that the subject of the sentence will always supple that information and therefore these endings are unnecessary. Does anyone know of any places in the English bible where having these Archaic endings give the reader more clarity?

Ok Mr Robycop.... List em out for us. Every single one of them so that they can be addressed. We need it clear, concise, and fully referenced, chapter and verse, and precisely why you think each one is a goof or a booboo. And if possible each one separated so that it can be easily addressed in isolation. You are making the accusations - let's see the goods.

The Beginning of the Church "Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone." Ephesians 2:19 & 20 The foundation, the chief corner stone of the church, is the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus founded His church during His earthly ministry. The Lord Jesus started, while He was on the earth, the church. “And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 The Lord is the found…

Many preachers teach that 1 Corinthians 13:8-12 teaches that the sign gifts will cease, the claim is that the "perfect" of vs 10 is the completed canon of scriptures. However I have a hard time seeing how the completed scriptures were what enable Paul to "know even as I also am known". I am beginning to wonder if this interpretation of this passage of scripture is a knee jerk reaction to charismatic doctrine and chaos? I see it as a definite possibility that what the "perfect" is and what Paul means by "then shall I know even as I also am known" as a reference to our condition in glory, or something of that nature. So I have several questions 1. Does the cessation of…

Something occurred to me the other day about this verse: Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. It suddenly occurred to me that I don't remember a time when I was walking down the road and suddenly realized I was wearing a particular set of clothes. Have any of you been walking down the road and suddenly found that someone had dressed you in a superman costume? Have any of you ever found that you had been dressed as a chef without you noticing? People do not get dressed in something without knowing either what they are putting on or what is being put on them. …

Ezra 6:15 And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius the king. Ezra 7:1 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, Ezra 7:7 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king. According to the commonly taught chronology, there are more than 80 years between chapters six and seven. Can this be so?

My apologies up front for any aggravation or heartache this question poses, as it seems to evoke pretty passionate responses when brought up, but the only way for me to learn is to ask. If Paul intended for "The husband of one wife" to mean never have been divorced, would that include a divorce before a man was saved? God tells us in Hebrews 8:12, Isaiah 43:25 and Psalm 103:11-12 that He not only forgives, but that He will also forget our transgressions when we turn to Him. One gentleman told me that sin has consequences (such as unwed pregnancy or drunk driving, etc), which I agree with, but the ones he listed are societal consequences for our sin a…

Genesis 6: 1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they werefair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. 3And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. 4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was…

- Hello; and welcome to the very first book of the Bible. As of today's date, I'm 74 years old; and an on-going student of the Bible since 1968 via sermons, seminars, lectures, Sunday school classes, radio Bible programs, and various authors of a number of Bible-related books. Fifty-plus years of Bible under my belt hasn't made me an authority; but they've at least made me competent enough to compose a home-spun journey thru Genesis; practically verse by verse from the origin of the cosmos to Joseph's burial in Egypt. I've experienced varying degrees of success with this particular topic. On some forums, it's attracted literally thousands of v…

So i am pretty sure it is from my upbringing in the Baptist faith but just in case your thought on Jesus the Only Begotten Son of God; would be helpful. My understanding is Jesus became the Only Begotten Son at His First Coming. But I know many believe Jesus has been the Son before time began; eternal Sonship which I find to be beyond my understanding. Apreciate any thoughts.
