When I read "this generation" I saw it as only being Jews, in parts of the gospels. It occurred to me that I have been excluding all of my gentile peoples before Jesus was put to death. I include them at the end of Jesus life, the trial and death but before then I don't. I included them at the end of time but for some reason left out the Romans, and the neighboring communities where Jesus done mighty works, why? I don't know, blindness I guess. None of the gentile Romans who Jesus helped stepped forward to talk to Pontius Pilate. None of the common gentiles who Jesus cured came forward to help Pilate. So when Jesus was saying this generation it meant more than just the J…

At the start of his ministry. Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Luke 4:3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Luke 4:9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence: At the end of …

This Generation The great Flood - Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Exodus from Egypt - Deuteronomy 1:35-36 Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers, 36 Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD. Psalm 95:10-11 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11 Unto …

1 Corinthians 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 1 Corinthians 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. The History Matthew 26:26-30 And as they were eating (passover), Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. 27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I say…

Let me preface this by reminding everyone that though I agree with much of Dispensationalism, I don't consider myself to be a Dispensationalist...and I sure don't consider myself as a Covenant Theologian. It appears that this is similar to "you're either a Calvinist or an Arminian". Well, no I'm not; I'm neither. Now, I guess you're either a Dispensationalist or a Covenant Theologian. Well, not I'm not. Anyway, R.C. Sproul has put a spin on Dispensationalism that I've never...Never...NEVER heard before. I've never heard any dispensationalist make the following claim. Quote from R.C. Sproul... Source: http://5ptsalt.com/2013/11/04/r-c-sproul-dispensationalism-brought-us-t…

Paul is writing in reply to a question from the Corinthian Church (verse 1); obviously a question about the married state between a man and a woman. He speaks part of this chapter without citing a direct commandment of the Lord. Paul defers to the Lord's commandment in verses 10-11. However, Paul writes, in "But I speak this by permission and not of commandment." But the 'this' in verse 6 is difficult for me to "rightly divide." Paul continues after verses 10-11 with further discourse in verses 12-40. But it appears in verse 40b he cites authority of the Holy Spirit, "and I think also that I have the Spirit of God." Also, I would like to confirm Paul's authority is the …

This is on a blog site that I know of......I have permission to post it here. Has God cast aside Israel? There is a whole raft of people out that that have been taught that Christians replace Israel as God’s chosen people. Those who teach this do so primarily so that they can apply the rules and laws pressed upon Israel onto Christians, and so that their teachers can take the authority and position of priests. Pastors are not priests (well at least not any more than any other saved person is a priest), but that is for another time. This teaching, which takes several different forms and names, but which is called usually “replacement theology” or sometimes “covenant theology…

Hello all, your time is appreciated even if I do get a bit ratty at times. This post is more the essence of what I am trying to say in 'Scriptural Election?'. Sorry if it isn't very well written since I am no literary genius. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you... Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: If we can assume just for now that God does elect some, and not others, is it in Scripture and how could a just God ch…

As far as I can see, the two main covenants are the old and the new, The Old Covenant of works was made specifically with Moses and the Isrealites but the laws contained in it applied to everyone on earth Ro 2:14-15, it was never to bring redemption atonement or eternal salvation, all that was promised in the New covenant. The New Covenant which we enter into when we are born again. Abraham inherited the promise but not the fulfilment. I've had a look at covenant theology, but it isn't based on scripture, and I've had a look at some dispensational theology, but they think the New Covenant isn't for us or for now. I think the new covenant is basicly the contract of Salvati…

The Lord persevered his words unto all generations. Psalms 12:6-7 6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. When the Lord gave scripture to O.T. Jews, he gave it to them in their language. When the Lord gave scripture to N.T. Christians, he gave it to them in the language of the day. Then the Lord gave nations Holy Bibles in their language. Finally, the Lord gave the entire world Holy Bibles in the universal language, which was translated into languages throughout the world. The KJV Holy Bible is the most translated bib…

Here's a question that should pose some interesting debate:D It's got me confused. Act 2:2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. Act 2:3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. Act 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Pentacost - filled with the spirit Act 2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? Act 2:8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we…

The thread Understanding Hebrews -2 has been hijacked by personal attacks & unspecified accusastions of error that do not address the teaching of this important letter. I tend to think of "testament" as generally synonymous with "covenant" particularly as the word "testament" does not occur in the OT, & when the OT is quoted "covenant" is quoted as "testament." e.g. Exodus 24:7 And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said , All that the LORD hath said will we do , and be OBedient . 8 And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said , Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made…

As we all know, it's easy to take a verse out of context in order to "prove" something. All too often, one doesn't take into account the preceding or succeeding verses that lend to understanding what a particular portion of scripture (a.k.a. - verse) is saying. While chapter and verse divisions are definitely helpful in many aspects, they can also be a hindrance. Chapters and verses weren't part of the Bible to begin with, and I believe that being able to read the Bible without them can be of benefit to someone who is a serious student of God's word. I'm not advocating doing away with chapter and verses, but I do think that being able to read God's word without them could…
