The Inerrancy of Scripture - are you a Bible believer or a Bible agnostic? It is a fact that most professing Christians today do not believe in an inerrant Bible nor in the inerrancy of Scripture in any language. I have put together an rather extensive article with various quotes and polls from present day Evangelicals which prove that this is the present state of Christianity all over the world. You may see it here if you wish. It is called ?The Bible is NOT the inspired and inerrant word of God.? http://www.geocities.com/brandplucked/NoInerrant.html I have been in the Bible version discussion now for several years at many different Christian internet forums. During…

We all are well aware that on May 5th 2011 the KJV1611 turns 400 years old. The purpose of this thread is to see if we can come up with 1611 reasons why we love the KJV. Rules are: 1) Members can post as many times as they like, but only one "reason" per post. 2) No other posts in this thread but reasons why you love the KJV. Start a new topic for discussions. 3) We need to come up with 1,611 reasons before May 5th 2011.

Has anyone heard of it? I read up on it a while ago, and it seemed interesting, and would be much more readable. Here is a link. Reading up on it again in a Wikipedia article, I found out some interesting changes they have made, besides putting the text in paragraphs, just want to see your thoughts on this: *Divides the text into paragraphs (and poetic line-divisions for poetic portions like the Psalms); *Introduces modern spelling in preference to that of the 18th century--"assuaged" rather than "asswaged," "music" rather than "musick," "show" instead of "shew," etc.; *Adds quotation marks for dialogue and words indicated as spoken in the Bible text; *Restores…

I was given a paperback NT about twelve years ago by a youth pastor that was going door-to-door. He invited me to his church and I said I would go, but being the unsaved liar that I was, I didn't go. I put that NT one one of my shelves and forgot about it. Five years ago I was still an unsaved liar, but I was also a drunkard and a whoremonger. One night, sitting on my bed and disgusted with myself and with life, I remembered that paperback NT and found it under a pile of junk. I opened it and in the front cover, there was a brief intro about basically what I was going through and that Jesus Christ was the only answer. It said "turn to page..." and I turned. Rom.…

Is the Geneva Bible an accurate translation? As far as I know, I've never actually seen or read a Geneva Bible. For some reason, I am seeing the Geneva Bible advertised and talked about a lot. One advetisement said the Geneva Bible was "the Bible of the Reformation." Another ad stated the Geneva Bible was the Bible of the American colonists. Another ad mentioned the Geneva Bible was the Bible of the Puritans. Any enlightenment on this issue would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, I would love to hear the community’s feedback about using an update to the King James Version. I love the KJV. But the language is basically 400 year-old English. So if there were a simple and accurate update to the KJV that made no changes except updating the old language, would you want to use it? What would be your thoughts generally about such an update? Would you like it as a stand alone version, or as a parallel Bible with the current KJV? It would be great to hear what you all think. May God be glorified. In Christ, Joseph

There is advanced revelation in the KJV that wasn't in the TR. *Mod note: this is a split from other threads*

Someone bought me a NKJV Study Bible. I read a little of it, and just didn't care for it, although I didn't see any "doctrinal" changes. However, I didn't "get into it" very much, so I don't know. What is the opinion on this version? :puzzled:

Hi guys. I watched most of Bart Ehrman's videos about 'Misquoting Jesus' over at UTube and there has been some discussion going on. Most are Bible mockers of course but there are one or two other Bible believers. Anyway, this was just posted today and I thought it was highly significant. This guy is very serious. He is not joking at all and he has been posting mocking questions and critical comments about the Bible and Christianity. I've answered him a few times but only God can break through the darkness. "And there are many of us atheists who were dedicated Christians for over 20 years before they went off to Bible College to prepare for the ministry, began stud…

I am at my wits end here. I can not tell you how many King James Bibles I have, and the reason I have so many...errors. I keep finding errors, with typos or word replacements. When I find one error, I push my Bible to the side, and begin my quest for another publisher. I have tried Holman, Hendricks, Scofield, Cambridge, Zondervan and Tyndale publishers, and always find some little quirk. I am beginning to abondan the idea of authenticity, am seriously thinking of switching to an ESV and starting all over again.

Whenever the three days and three nights of Matthew 12:40 is brought up in a "discussion" with 6th day crucifixion folks, they frequently argue that it is a Jewish idiom for counting any part of a day as a whole day. I wonder if anyone has documentation that shows an example from the first century or before regarding a period of time that is said to consist of a specific number of days as well as a specific number of nights where the period of time absolutey doesn't/can't include at least a part of each one of the specific number of days and at least a part of each one of the specific number of nights?

I would like to ask you some questions about the KJV. Please answer YES or NO with no explanations. Is the 1611 KJV inspired? Is the 1769 KJV inspired? Is the Cambridge KJV inspired? Is the Oxford KJV inspired? Is the 1611 KJV the inspired Word of God? Is the 1769 KJV the inspired Word of God? Is the KJV superior to the TR apographs? Is the KJV superior to the inspired autographs? Is the 1611 KJV perfect? Is the 1769 KJV perfect? Is the 1611 KJV inerrant? Is the 1769 KJV inerrant? Is the Cambridge KJV inerrant? Is the Oxford KJV inerrant? Is the Cambridge KJV perfect? Is the Oxford KJV perfect? Is the 1611 mo…

I am currently working on an article about God's work with souls from birth to heaven. This is a working draft of the introduction/ summery. The Spiritual progression of human souls (Job 10:9-19, Psalm 139:13-16) It is a misconception that a soul is either a child of God or a child of the devil at birth, automatically destined to be saved or lost, or born a sinner. Rather for all of us it is a growth process. All start out innocent and then there is a process of growth that each soul must go thorough before one becomes a saint or sinner. (John 9:1-3, Romans 9:10-12) The reason no soul can be a sinner or child of the devil before birth i…

I have a few questions for those who are KJV-Only: 1: Do you believe people can be saved by using modern versions (such as NKJV)? 2: 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: {17} That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." This passage tells us Scripture is by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness. These, and providing the way of salvation (faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God) are the main purposes for Scripture. …
