I have been gathering information for quite some time now on all the aspects of salvation and how one gets saved, with special attention to the Call from God all the way to the sinner's response to receive or reject. Here is something on repentance that I just heard yesterday from a visiting speaker to our church. Very interesting is the fact that we can learn new things everyday especially when we think we have all the details fully understood. :) When God draws a sinner to Himself for salvation, that sinner has the opportunity to reject or accept the offer from the LORD. This is the sinner's free-will. In order to receive the gift of salvation, the sinner must…

I have read many posts over the internet concerning infants and death. People wonder where an infant goes when it dies. I do not believe all babies that die in infancy go to heaven, nor do I believe they all go to hell. I do believe I have Scriptural support for my conclusions. I will deal first with the reality of some being born wicked. In Psalm 58:3, we read that "The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies." In interesting verse to say the least. It shows that there are wicked born in this world. Now, let's jump to Hosea 13:16, where we read the LORD God ordering that infants be dashed to pieces. Wow. Su…

I do not believe a person can "fall from grace" and lose salvation. However, can a person renounce the decision to follow Christ? I have known a few people who have done so. One experienced salvation, and lived like it for awhile. However, after a number of terrible events in his life, he walked away and renounced his belief in Christ, and now lives as an athiest. Again, I am not talking about losing salvation due to a mere drifting away from faith or falling into sin. I am talking about a conscious decision to renounce Christ and their faith in him. What happens when people do this? Do they lose the salvation that they at one point in their lives accepted? If …

In Acts 2, Peter preached the first gospel sermon after Christ ascended back to heaven. He told the Jews that they had crucified Christ who is the son of God. In verse 37 they asked men and brethren, what shall we do? We understand that they were asking what they had to do to be saved. This is the most important question that one can ask or answer. If someone were to ask you that same question today, how would you answer it?

I was baptised into the Church of Christ when I was about (guessing) 7 or 8 years old. Later in life after attending many different churches, I was saved under the ministry of an IFB and followed the Lord with believer's baptism. Some years ago I had a relative and member of the Church of Christ pass away. After the services there was a meal at the church. During discussion among family and old friends, membership at this church was discussed. A deacon of the church mentioned that I was still carried on the membership roll. I said I had since been saved and become a Baptist. Another person said, "But you were baptized here!" No discussion of salvation or receiving Chris…

Once Saved, Always Saved! If you do not believe that Jesus has saved your soul from Hell forever; can you really claim to be "saved" at all? Although there are many different denominations that claim to be "Christian"; there are basically only two kinds of belief about salvation among them. The more popular belief teaches that salvation is something that can be gained and lost many times in this life. It claims that a person is saved by grace initially, but that there is always the possibility of him doing something wrong at a later time that would cause him to lose his salvation. If he happens to die in a lost condition, he goes to Hell, even though h…

This is part of an article by John R. Rice: What Must I Do To Be Saved? WHAT ABOUT REPENTANCE? Does not the Bible say that we must repent? Yes, the Bible plainly says that "God ... commandeth all men every where to repent" (Acts 17:30), and again, "Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish" (Luke 13:3, 5). This was the preaching of John the Baptist, of Jesus, of Peter and of Paul, that men should repent. And certainly repentance is God's plan of salvation. The trouble here, however, is that men misunderstand what repentance means, and there has grown up an idea that repentance means a period of weeping and mourning over sin, or sorrow for sins. This idea comes fro…

Hi everyone. As I said in my introductory post in the introductions forum, I am re investigating my Baptist roots. I fully intend to become Baptist again and to stay Baptist. I am currently attending a Fundamentalist Baptist Church called the Gospel Center. Anyway, I am having trouble understanding the doctrine of once saved, always saved or eternal security. Could someone please explain it to me and provide verses to back it up?

Matthew 5 21 Ye have heard that it was said of them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. when it says that someone who says "thou fool" shall be in danger of hell fire, does that mean that believers are in danger of going to hell if they talk like that?

Repentance CANNOT save I'm writing on the topic of repentance in regards to salvation because this is a subject that is very misinterpreted today, (even amongst Independent, Fundamental Baptists) and there’s a LOT of false teaching out there under the guise of repentance that is actually teaching a works-based salvation. The mistake that most people make is that, whenever they see the word "repent" in the Bible, they add these words after it: “of your sins”. So whenever they see the word "repent" they just automatically add "of sin"... repent of your sin. In fact, they often think that just the word "repent" means to turn from sin, but the Bible doe…

I've listened to a radio preacher in my area a few times to make sure that I heard his "salvation plan" correctly... After his recorded sermon ends, another recording comes on that invites people to their church etc...and part of the final recording is an invitation to be saved...this is how it's presented... If you want to be saved, it's as easy as A-B-C. A - Admit that you're a sinner. B - Believe that Jesus is the Son of God. C - Confess your sins to him. That's it...and that's all that is said. I know what I think, but what do others think of this?

(arminianism is also incorrect) Before the foundation of the world God knew that mankind would need redemption from their wickedness and decided that He would choose all who who are in Christ by faith to be holy and without blame, adopted as sons and forgiven of sins. See Ephesians 1:4-7 Note: He did not choose which individuals would be in Christ.

Hehe Kathie...What does everybody believe about dispensational salvation? I believe that believers were all saved the same way, by grace through faith, through all dispensations. I believe that in all dispensations, people can/could not lose their salvation. I'm gonna try to find the verses my preacher showed us on this topic in Bible Institute Monday night. Hopefully I wrote them in my notebook haha. Katy-Anne

Below is an article on the meaning of the word "Repentence." It is taken from the Greek word, and often times is misunderstood. https://blu173.mail.live.com/default.aspx?id=64855#!/mail/ViewOfficePreview.aspx?messageid=a2b1582c-4593-11e3-a43d-00215ad88c62&folderid=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&attindex=0&cp=-1&attdepth=0&n=211995724

"Oops, I missed a step" Salvation. Romans 8:26-29 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. I was saved at the…

Salvation involves the new birth according to John 3:3 according to the Lord Jesus Christ. The new birth changes one's life, one' s desires, and one's state and standing with God.

Taken from BO We believe in order to truly pass from death to life a person must repent of their sins. remission of sins by grace through faith in Gods promise and Christ's blood. We believe good works do not and can never have any part in salvation. So what you are saying is salvation doesn't come from doing good, but it does come from quitting bad. This is why the definition of repent is so important. This leads ppl to confusion about what salvation is. If you want to kick me off, kick me off. JONAH 3:10

Recently I was reading a post in the salvation forum and came across this question concerning eternal security, "is God an indian giver"? As I have thought on this for a while it has brought other questions to my mind. BTW I am OSAS in my theology. Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23 and 1 John 5:11-12 all state that eternal life is a gift from God. Here are my questions, If we could give back God's gift to us back how would we do it? Since the gift is received through faith and that faith itself is a gift of God how would this be accomplished? Seeing eternal life is not tangible because it is procured by faith what exactly would be given back? Your thoughts on these…
