Ok, ok, here's my half-baked attempt at (uuugggh ) poetry! When you go visit the American city, you might find it very glitzy, but if you take a walk in the park, don't talk to muggers, or they'll take you apart! Oh mugger, oh mugger, your time has come to answer for your crime, we love our honey's, we love our families, we love our money, to not put up with your crime! Let's take a walk through the suburbs and ghettos, there you'll find everyone from rich men to peddlers, but if you're a mugger out looking for a thrill, if the cops don't get you, Charles Bronson will! It is sunny day, and joggers are making their way, yet, the mugger hi…

D O G Chronicles Lessons from my dog (from her point of view.) An Analogy Life at the end a chain can be quite frustrating. One sees many things that he would like to investigate, and yet, cannot reach. It seems as if this confinement is a prison, and yet, we all have our own “prison” whether of thought or in the flesh. Even when free from the chain, the confinement is there, for I am fenced in, isolated from the vast and interesting world of exploration. So, the freedom is a limited freedom, but welcome indeed. A “limited freedom” is not so bad, since it also keeps out the bully dogs! Yes, it not only confines, but protects, and one must appreciate …

Ever thy hand hath hovered , Over this my wretched soul , In thy blood I am covered , Ever gentle doth it flow.... Oh mystery this sovereign grace , How you could love me , Salty tears fall down my face , And, I fall upon my knees ... Oh Jesus my blessed saviour , How can I ever thank thee ? Such a wonderful favor , At last I am free.........

Must Mountain (Or, “When ‘Maybe’ Turns to ‘Must’”) In four different styles. l I walked through the valley of “Maybe”, And waded the swamp of despair; Looked for the hope of the lily, But found that it was not there! I fell in the pot-hole of depression, And forded the creek of doubt; Ploughed through the jungle of Sorrow, Looking for the elusive way out! I was lost in the Wilderness of frustration, Circling round and round, Ignoring the map I had with me, Heeding no vision nor sound; ll A mountain loomed mightily before me, But too tired to make the great climb, I camped at the base in a woeful place, Amid an oasis of slime! …

March 30, 2013 Flames avoid 3 Bibles during 4-hour inferno that destroys home By Bill Foley The Daily Item HERNDON — Only three Bibles, found placed in different parts of her father’s residence, and her mother’s jewelry survived a blaze Saturday morning that destroyed a double-wide mobile home in southern Northumberland County, Carol Rickert said. “This house is burned to a crisp,” Rickert said after the 7:30 a.m. blaze at the intersection of Hooflander and Slutter Valley roads in Washington Township. Not one of three Bibles were “touched by flames,” she said. Read more about this story in Sunday's edition of The Daily Item.

Who is eating Your Lunch My brother had a weimaraner dog. They are good bird hunting dogs from Germany. When my brother gets a new dog it takes a lot of patience’s because you must train them the way you want them. One day John stopped to pick up parts for the quarry where we work. He left his brown bag lunch on the front seat of his pick up truck and told Heidi the dog to say in the back like she was trained. Guess what happened. Yep! The dog jumped in the front seat and ate Johnny’s lunch. He was not happy! So a training session occurred. A few days later Johnny had to stop for parts again. He left his brown bag lunch on the seat in the front of the truck ag…

Valentines Day ( I wrote this to my wife a few years ago, the poetry is not real good, but the thought is.) Valentines Day is a day of love; A day for memories, sweet memories of, Loves long plight, and the unity of two; Of heartfelt times, and the babies’ “coo”. Of hardships and losses, and windfalls and gains, Memories that linger, leaving their stains; Some of sorrows, and some of joys, Some of good times, some of ploys; The memories shared by only two; Personal memories, that began with “I do”. From the altar to the cradle, then off to school; From diapers and bottles to the crawlers drool; One by one the family grows, Little angels, with holy glows, …

In the Fire! Life's Lessons from the Forge - Part 1 In blacksmithing, a piece of iron or steel is heated to varying degrees and worked into shape between the Smith’s hammer and his anvil. In order to heat the steel, the Smith places the steel into the forge, which contains burning coal, or coke. The Smith then pumps air through the burning coke which makes the fire reach an extreme heat, which in turn heats the steel. When the fire is hot, the Smith cannot just lay the steel on top of the fire for it will not absorb any heat, it will get “warm” but it will not get “hot.” In order for the steel to absorb the maximum heat quickly, there must first be a…

I wrote this several years ago, just found it lying around in my flash drive! Love is… Love is not known until it is shown, And it is revived through giving; Love is not felt until cold hearts melt, Then it brings joy to the living. Love is a force that will run its course, Only when hard hearts are tender; Love is the emotion which animates a notion, And brings great joy to its sender. Love is the season which salts all reason, And allows us to be what we’re not; Love is the magic that bewilders the tragic, And turns us from lukewarm to hot! Love is the art that burdens the heart, To give the Gospel to the poor; Love is the ray that lightens…

Life is like a car without reverse and on a really long one way street running about 60 MPH like an interstate and not able to stop cus other cars follow in the path, some go around you speeding cus of no patience. Others road rage cus they don't know how to control their anger and are in a hurry cus they like the open road, not knowing where they are going, or their purpose, they are jus in it for the ride and don't want anything to get in their way to slow them down plus taking no caution as to what could happen, others go slow, cus they have found their ways of patience and they enjoy life, that's why they take it slow, They have no reason to speed, cus they have fou…

I write this as jest, not to make fun of anyone, but myself, as a victim of dementia. Confused? I just got back from who knows where? Now that I’ve arrived, where am I? I forgot who I am, but know where I went, but don’t know what to do when I got there! Got where? I don’t know, where? I talk when I walk, but I see that I can’t; If I could I would, but I can’t so I won’t; Won’t what? I don’t know, I forgot. I feel that I am, but ain’t too sure, I know that I’m not, But what am I not? I forgot. Perhaps a sot. My mind is a mess, but I am on my way; Life is a game, but I can’t play; I don’t know the rules, nor what to say, Wherever I’m going, I…

Death Meets His Match Father Time met pale King Death Sittin' by a tomb. "Hello, old friend, I guess you're here To seal somebody's doom." "You might say that," sly Death replied. A smile slid up his face. "Inside reposes that Jesus man Who said He'd save the race." "And you, Time, why you stoppin' here? Don't you have things to do?" "I come each day to draw the veil And let the mornin' through." "Say, why you watchin' jus' one grave, With all your vast domain? Looks like you'd be out ramblin' round And smitin' folks with pain." "Well, this one's somethin' special. He challenged me, they say. Said He'd rest here just three days Then stir and walk …

A Cabana by the Sea In a quaint cabana, On an island reef, Lived a man whose lifespan was, At the most considered “brief”. For nigh the dawn meets the tide, That old man death will come; With scythe in hand, to take a man, And pick him as a plum. The reaper grim, scythe in hand, Will come this very night; To collect another winsome soul, From a life of sin and blight. With the coming of morning light, Another soul shall be set free; A lonely man with bated breath, Meets death in a cabana by the sea. “A good man” his friends will claim, “And kind and true and pure”; But don’t ask his God my friend, You see, His judgment is good and sure. His …

The Bus Route I see little Billy with dirt on his face; Running to and fro, flitting from place to place; He thinks he’s happy as he runs and plays, But soon he will see the devils dark days. I see baby Anna, all wrapped up sweet; A bottle in her mouth, and booties on her feet; She thinks she’s safe in loving arms, But has not yet known the devils charms. Then there’s Sammy, rebellious and stern, He doesn’t know that someday he’ll burn; He enjoys the stubbornness of sin, Not realizing the shape he’s in. Little faces with smiles great, Show the innocence of their fate; Romping around so happy and free, Ignorant of Jesus and Calvary’s tree. Then …

But We See Jesus "I don't look back, God knows the fruitless efforts, The wasted hours, the sinning, the regrets, I leave them all with Him who blots the record, And mercifully forgives, and then forgets. I don't look forward, God sees all the future, The road that, short or long, will lead me home, And He will face with me its every trial, And bear for me the burdens that may come. But I look up - into the face of Jesus, For there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled, And there is joy, and love, and light for darkness, And perfect peace, and every hope fulfilled." ~Annie Johnson Flint~

I wrote this a couple years ago when facing a few scriptural battles with some family members. The Judgment Seat Well God here I am, my life’s over you see, It was living hell, but it mastered not me. I’ve been through a lot on the world it is true. So open the gates and I’ll just pass on through. The trials that you faced were a test from above, To see if you’d taste of the Saviors sweet love. But anger you chose instead of salvation And now you are sent to eternal damnation. Greetings redeemer, I sure hope I am saved, All the commandments I am sure I obeyed. One special request if you would be so kind Don’t let it be said I left my wealth behind. Dear rich …

If thou doest well in all things And many approve thy works, Wouldst thy soul gain a profit, Should praises add to thy worth? If thou holdest truths unknown by all And thy knowledge doth increase, Shall men see only God's wisdom And thou, in their sight, decrease? When thy hand reacheth another, And through thee blessings flow, Wilt thou keep thy mouth silent That none thine kindness know? 'Tis not what we can do, And all the things we possess Which giveth exaltation Nor pleaseth the LORD best. When in all humility To God our hearts we surrender; He rewardeth His grace And our good works doth He remember. In…

In 2005, after my Mom died, I spent time with my family attempting to comfort them by preaching about her saving faith at her memorial. I came back so spiritually dry and thirsty from this time, and was unexpectedly empty. I came across these words in Isaiah during my very next Bible reading and they really soothed my soul. Isaiah 41:17-18 When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. As a result of …

Here's a story I wrote sometime back. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it, but mostly I hope it helps to point someone in the right direction, and give meaning to their life. Wandering… (the testimony of a man) An Allegory I have spent much of my youth merely wandering in a wilderness of sin. In my heart, I crossed the barren desert; with parched tongue, and cracked lips, I sought something, but never really knew what it was I sought. I soared the clouds with wonderful grace, as free as a bird, and literally felt the hand of God beckon to me to come home, but I kept searching--kept looking for that “something” that would fulfill my heart, an…

He had mercy for my sinful soul; His heart throbbed for me 'till His last breath; And I tremble at this truth I know: It's His love for me that caused His death. It's His precious blood that washed me clean, And I'm counted righteous for ever! I can come before the Holy King Who receives my praise and hears my pray'r. His love for me is so wonderful-- It's the deepest love I've ever known! Filling my heart and wooing my soul Each day and 'till I'm finally home. - 23 November, 2008

Through the tests and storms of life, My faith in You won't weaken; When my heart grows weak or breaks, I'll turn my gaze to heaven. You died for me at Calv'ry, You saved my poor soul from hell; Why then shouldn't I seek You And all my cares to You tell? When the night is long and sad, Or strength I lose by the day, You'll bring joy and make me sing, You'll cause me to rest and pray. You've promised You'll never leave, By my side You'll always be; Why then should I fear or hide When perils come before me? Though trials sail around me, Still I will not be drowned; For You are my Saviour, Lord, My life's secure in Your hand. You bestow upon me grace, You're the Giver o…
