Life and Death Before I lived I did not wish for life; yet now that I live I do not wish for death. Yet both come unbidden and sudden. As I wait for sleep, I toss and turn with the realization: I am alive and will cease to be. Death will come upon me just as it has to all life before me. What does death have in store for me? Before I lived I had no thought of such things. There was no fear for there was no me... that I can recall. Will it be as it was before? Before life. Before me. Before my existence in this life? Will death restore me to the state I was in before life? Or is death just a stepping stone to another new life? Is death only the removal of my livi…

I was reading about this guy, who put a bunch of kittens underwater until they drowned. Lots of them. Little fluffy faces no longer cute as the hair was pulled back against the face, little tongues falling out of the mouths that couldn't get air. The little meows silenced by the water, the only one heard was the cries of the mother who could run away, that is, until she got drowned too. It wasn't just kittens and cats, this guy drowned puppies too. Happy hopping, face licking, tail wagging, puppies, put under water until all the air in the tiny little puppy lungs was gone and life ended with one last little spasm. Oh, the doggy mother saw this too, wasn't able to …

'Twas battered and scarred, and the auctioneer Thought it scarcely worth his while To waste much time on the old violin, But he held it up with a smile. "What am I bidden, good folk?" he cried, "Who'll start the bidding for me? "A dollar - a dollar - then two, only two - "Two dollars, and who'll make it three? "Going for three" - but no - From the room far back, a gray-haired man Came forward and picked up the bow, Then, wiping the dust from the old violin, And tightening the loosened strings, He played a melody pure and sweet As sweet as an angel sings. The music ceased, and the auctioneer, With a voice that was quiet and low, Said, "NOW what am I …

Well, it's my turn. Unlike Jerry, I can't fling off a poem in a half an hour and have it almost perfect. I started this one about 6 months ago, left it, and hammered it out (with Jerry's help) tonight. My Rest He

I'm not the biggest fan of poetry but this one by Rudyard Kipling is probably my favorite. IF If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you But make allowance for their doubting too, If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise: If you can dream--and not make dreams your master, If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim; If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same; If you can bear to hear the …

What am I worth, in this temporal world, Where life is but just decades old? None other purpose, but to live for Thee: Jesus, who sacrificed Himself for me. How can I walk on in my own old ways, When my eyes have beheld Thy glory? I can do nothing but to follow Thee, To walk in Thy Spirit, and living in love. How can I cry and bemoan my sufferings, When Your wounds and grief exceeds mine? Just as how You walked down Golgotha, Same I do patiently, to carry my Cross. How can I lift myself up selfishly, When Your life was spent serving others? Just as how You lived Your earthly life so lowly, Shall I place You and others before me. How can I linger on in …

This is my first attempt (as a Christian) at telling a story through a poem. I've retold Bible stories and passages, like Jacob's Well, Luke 16, The Prodigal Son, but never a modern day story. I was touched by Billy's Story, and this poem started flowing. I pray the Lord would bless you through it. I have decided to keep the poem as is, except for changing "pearl" to "pearly". When I make a page up for it on my website I will have ironed out the punctuation. Please share it with others if it will somehow be a blessing to them. Going Through The Door I

So let's put our silly poetry here. I will begin with a heartwarming poem my father penned, many years ago. "Ode to a Grilled Cheese Sandwich" A belly full of food ,Worth a Kingdom, if I had one to spare But I haven't an extra kingdom, so I'll pay my equal share For a Cheese Sandwich, Grilled, Golden brown and Delicious With a Slice of Pickle; Green, Warty and Nutritous.

One of my best friends is my Pastor's (Claude Madle's) brother in law, Bill Smith. Just before Christmas this past year, he and his family (including six children) were travelling in their truck, and hit an icy patch. They went off the road, and Bill's wife, Reesa, was thrown through the windshield and died. Everything they had with them was destroyed with the truck, though the rest of the family was fine. One of the older girls had injured her ankle, but nothing serious. When they picked up Reesa, they found her Bible - the only remaining object from the truck - underneath her. No doubt it was a legacy to her children, and a reminder that even in the hardest times, the L…

I have not given this poem a title. It was just something I prayed about to add to a tract that I had written for parents. I have never written a poem before I do not plan on doing so in the future. God bless. When I was a child I was taught that when I die I would not know where I would go. Would I go to heaven above or to the flames down below? Now that I am grown I still believe what my parents taught me so Just do good works and go to church and God will take your soul. After all God is good God is love He just has to let me in. But the Bible says that because God's good he has to punish sin. Because God is good He must punish fornicators, thieves, and liars…

It's Jesus

I wrote this poem yesterday. I am not sure if I will further change any of the wording, but I wanted to get input on it first. It's Jesus There's a refuge to be found in the midst of life's storms, There's a peace so profound it will guard your heart from harm, Where is this shelter under the everlasting arms? It's Jesus. There's only one Saviour who died to make men free, One source of Living Water that flows abundantly, One plan of salvation - Are you thirsty? Come and see. It's Jesus. There's one sinless Man whose life He gave, Only one Man who arose victorious over the grave, There's only one Saviour who can ever save, It's Jesus. …

He Giveth More Grace He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater, He sendeth more strength when the labors increase; To added affliction He addeth His mercy; To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace. When we have exhausted our store of endurance, When our strength has failed ere the day is half done, When we reach the end of our hoarded resources, Our Father's full giving is only begun. Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision, Our God ever yearns His resources to share; Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing; The Father both thee and thy load will upbear. His love has no limit; His grace has no measure. …

I was intrigued last Sunday by the last passage my pastor quoted in his sermon on Missions - Romans 10:9-13. How Shall They Call? In a world that is blinded by darkness, Men’s souls that are shadowed by night, We shine out among those around us - To the lost and perishing, we are the light. How shall they call unless they hear the truth. How shall they respond unless they know; How shall they ever hear the Gospel, Unless someone here tells them so. Jesus Christ paid the price that was needed To redeem mankind back from their sin; The Holy Spirit came to this world, So that lost man could be born again. But how shall they call unl…

A Touch of God's Grace By: Sadie Katharine ______ The invitation song began to play, As tears streamed down her face. She wondered if her broken heart could be healed that day Just for a little touch of God?s grace. Her life had been in a raging sea. Tossed too and fro, She cried out Lord, here my plea To Calvary you did go. A touch of God?s grace, That?s all that I need. Coming before Him with praise Bowing down at His feet. A touch of His hand, Abounding in mine, Coming to the Great I Am, Forever to be thine. Just a touch of His mercy, Guiding us along life?s race. He is all we need and there will always be. A touch of God?s grace. Love in…

Just A Little Sparrow (Dedicated to all the little children) I?m just a little sparrow ? Oh, please don?t forget me, Lord! I?m trusting in Your promises, Still believing in Your Word. I?m just a little sparrow ? With these tears, it?s hard to see, But I know my Heavenly Father Is always watching over me. I?m just a little sparrow ? So small and scared, I know; But Jesus died for all my sins, He washed me white as snow. I?m just a little sparrow ? But one thing I know is true: Jesus loves all the little children, And I know He loves me too! I?m just a li…

Been so long since posting here, hope I remember how to format posts properly. I have not written much these last few years, but I think this was my second to last poem/song. Love Broke Through I left my shelter, wandered out into harm; My faith grew so weak in the path of the storm. A trial of my choosing; no one else to blame; But His love broke through when I called on His name. Chorus: Love broke through the clouds, Love scattered the rain; God’s love brought healing in the midst of my pain. When the wind and the waves were all I could view, Jesus calmed the storm, and His love broke through. The wind rose so sudden, the thunder now roared; I was all but…

Life is ineffably lonely without having our friends around us. It's even impossible to live without one, and if I knew someone who has none at all perhaps I would readily offer my friendship. I'm convinced God designed life to be about being friends with people, and that He Himself has friends amongst us. I believe friendships are essential to living. We have a handful of answers to the question "What is a real friend?". I bet we can come up with the funniest to the most profound definition of a real friend, and still think we can't really describe one. When someone is a real friend, we just know it, feel it and experience it. In the Bible, a friend is characterised a…

My first writing... Ever wonder why in Bible-believing churches, the pulpit is at the centre of the sanctuary? This place, the place where the Word of God is preached. It bears witness to the power of the Scriptures: The Holy Bible. This is the Word, that demolishes all the vain philosophies and superstitions of fallen Man, and points out the universal sickness and sinfulness of the children of Adam: it leaves no place for Man's exaltation, nor serves to glorify anyone save God. This is the Word, that has brought many ungodly, wretched souls to repentance. That has transformed God-hating, wrathful unbelievers to humble, durable vessels God so uses for His glory.…

There comes a time in life when memories become very precious. We tend to cling to them, and not let them go; we walk again a life now past, and enjoy the excitement of life all over again. Memories; sometimes it seems as if that’s all we have left that is worthwhile, and yet they are no longer reality. Many of them are lost in the OBlivion of time gone by, vague memories, as accurate as we wish them to be, and still exhilarating to our hearts with precious thoughts to occupy our days. They are often little appreciated, at the first thought of them, but stored away for future reference in our old age. With memories, we relive the excitement of youth; we brave the sto…

There is a place, that I have found that is open to all in the land of cyber space. This is a place where lessions are taught and feelings shared, but always with the words of God as its base. There are computer wizards and home makers, husbands and wives, soldiers and veterans. We even have a Preachit, who is in a class of his own and yet to be figured out. Those whose hearts are as cold as ice, but have been brought to life by the words and love that is shared, by all on board. The words of God from the King James is what is used and is shared to all who are willing to listen and learn the truth. A place where knowledge, wisdom, truth, and love are shared, to all …

Here is an older poem of mine that I am posting solely to get feedback on. I have never made a page on my site for this one, as I am not sure whether I should or not. Let me know what you think. It Could Be You When the aged man walked in the pain was easy to see His was a heart stained with sin torn apart by hypocrisy He gazed around fearfully, he trembled in place A shattered look of anguish was there on his face He was seeking for mercy, he was desperate for grace But in my own judging heart there wasn't even a trace. When I learned he was a Christian who once "walked away" I thought, "It serves this sinner right!" Then I picked up my …
