A Glimpse of Perfection This precious little daughter That the Lord has given you, Will doubtless bring you more joy, As she smiles back up at you. How gracious a Heavenly Father, As on you such love He has shown. Entrusting you with another child, For you to raise up as your own. Each time you look upon her, Gives reason to remember; She is a special reward From your Heavenly Father. And as He is filling your quiver, With this great token of His love Take more time aside to remember, All His past blessings from above. Looking on God's perfection; Remember, He makes all things new; Providing you a sweet glimpse, Of the work He's doing in you.…

Dear Lord remember me 1. Dear Lord remember me a sinner weak, and vile full of impiety, and fraught with sin and guile. I cannot hope but in thy blood remember me oh Lord for good. 2. Unable to depend on nature, strength, and power, Jesus befriend teach thee to trust thee more, save me from sin and all its smart. Oh save me from my treacherous heart. 3.Upon my oath I rest my feeble soul secure, by sin I am oppressed, but thy salvation's sure. Though like a bottle in the smoke, I know thy vessels can't be broke. 4. Tis true, dear Lord, I am A sinner vile indeed! Yet hoping in the Lamb, who deigned for such to bleed And while the Spirit seals my heart My sou…

A Leaf (descriptive/narrative essay)

There are so many things that even a thousand piece of paper and a dozen gallons of ink will not be sufficient to write the manifold grace which God bestowed upon my life. This descriptive type of essay is just but a little one piece of my diary which was written somewhere beyond the sky. I eat, and drink; I merry, and cry. I run and stumble; I fail but still I try. A Person like me is not hard to find. It is not because I?m tall in stature but as one in a million guys that is what we so called ?skinny bones?, just kidding. I am a slim guy but not totally thin. Talking about my outward appearance: I am not handsome and comely to look upon but I was so thankful to God t…

Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter. She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again. There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address. She read the letter: Dear Ruth: I`m going to be in your neighborhood Saturday afternoon and I'd like to stop by for a visit. Love Always, Jesus Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. 'Why would the Lord want to visit me? I'm nobody special. I don't have anything to offer.' With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets. 'Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer. I'll have to run down to the …

A Life A life so wonderfully, graciously given A life beyond what thought can achieve A life bound for a perfect Heaven If only I can such a life believe. A life not of lazy, hazy days A life but more full and free A life through turmoil and dark haze If only such a life can be for me. A life of overflowing joy and happiness A life full of love unknown A life in which I've made such a mess If only my life in You I've grown. A life, my life, as I have deemed it A life I've thought to please myself A life, my life, I've dug a pit If only my life You do not shelf. A life given wholly to You A life much greater it shall be A life, Lo…

My only Son, as I watched Thy birth tonight I thought of My plan. Thou broughtest me pride As I watched Thee grow from a boy to a man. Thou performedst Our works, fulfilling Thy destiny As We set up the base of Christianity My only Son, tears of sadness filled my eyes As I watched Thee on the Cross though I knew Thou wouldst not die. For on the third day I resurrected Thee And now My only Son, as always Thou art part of Me. EDITED: Found a couple of typos, lol.

Alan asked if there were any more mission stories like "It's Not So Bad". I have this excerpt from my journal while in Papua New Guinea several years ago as a painfully young ex-cowboy called into the ministry. A “Living” Sacrifice I came to a place of soul-searching in Papua New Guinea several years ago, and found myself at a point in my ministry where I desperately needed to come to some place of understanding regarding my duties as a servant of God, as opposed to my own personal view of my weak, limited abilities and obligations. With plenty of time on my hands during a rainy monsoon season, I became more reflective on my future work in Papua New G…

Lord, I opened up the vault where I keep all my faults, I started to look around, at all the junk lying on the ground. As I looked inside I began to wonder What could it have been That stopped Your voice of thunder, "Get out of here; you have to much sin!" But as I travel farther inside And see more of what I've tried to hide, I am more than filled with disgust, For all the things I see: the sin, the filth, the lust. So again I wonder why, After I've done all of this You still sent your Son to die, Even after all I've done amiss. How could You love me so That You would let Your blood flow? For someone who didnt care, You did f…

A man knocked his wife and child to the ground one night is a sheer rage. Late that night the man awoke. It was hot. Fire crackled around him. He was thristy. He could not move. All of a suddent he saw Jesus Christ and God. "Jesus Christ, God why is is so hot?" "Why am I paralyzed?" "Why Am I thirsty?" "My dear child," Jesus said flashing numerous scenes of violence the man had committed against his wife and child, "if you do not treat your wife and child better, this fire awaits you come Judgment Day. You have two choices; you can take the wide road or the narrow road. If you take the narrow road and accept me as your Personal Savior and Lord of your life, yo…

I know I am posting this a day late, but I didn't have an opportunity to do so last night. This was taken from our church bulletin. A Mother's Love A Mother's love is something that no one can explain, It is made of deep devotion and of sacrifice and pain, It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may For nothing can destroy it or take that love away... It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, And it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking... It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns, And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems. It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanati…

I am not a poet, I am a studier of the old days and things. You know the Baptist name was a lot more common a hundred years ago. Back in the days an unknown person wrote this poem. It is a little short and simple, but it is from the old days. Baptist, Baptist, Baptist, Baptist till I die, I'd rather be a Baptist, and eat that Baptist pie

A Poem and a Prayer Dear Holy Spirit, Thank you for your sweet voice within; Thank you for the great power of your presence; Thank you for walking daily with me; Thank you for your gracious “Pleasance”. You’re a very great friend indeed; A Guide and a companion to such a wretch as I; Ever strengthening, ever encouraging, Ever faithful, ever building me. Thank you for standing by me in those late night hours; Thank you for controlling my dreams, influencing my thoughts; Thank you for your ever-present love. What an amazing person you are; what an amazing friend; You are more to me than words can express; More precious than any treasure, future or past;…

I wrote this poem during a very difficult time in my life. I was facing having to go disabled, losing everything we had, and having to file for bankruptcy. It was also a time when the world thought everything was going to collapse because of Y2K. If we only knew then what we know now! I have a compilation of poetry and short stories that I've written over the years, as well as a couple of books I've written that I'm editing before having them published. I hope this poem is helpful to those who read it. BT In Each Life An Original Poem by Anthony J Lanius ©Copyright October 1999 It’s strange to look back At the years that have passed Whe…

I am not a poet, but the Lord put this on my heart.... MY LORD IS GOOD, AND SWEET, AND GRACIOUS AND DAILY TO ME SO KIND, NO MATTER HOW OFTEN I FAIL HIM, NO MATTER HOW SPIRITUALLY BLIND. HE TAKES MY HAND AND LEADS ME, AND REMINDS ME OFTEN "YOU'RE MINE". THOUGH TIMES SEEM SO TROUBLED IN THIS WICKED SIN SICK PLACE, I KNOW, I TRUST, I AWAIT THAT CALL TO LOOK UPON THE LAMB'S FACE!

A Poem of My Own I am a flower as weak as I am strong, Growing each day to be free. My stem is strong for my heart is freeing itself To love and see God's great light for us all; To be pretty as I was meant to be; Showing the world I am here to notice the beauty deep down inside of me; Loving as this was meant to be; Love makes all things possible. Tears heal my flowering days as time goes by, With my inner flower growing to replace this badly torn wrong body. God sees my tears, Helps ease the suffering for me to grow. Laughter is becoming more apparent these days, Beauty is out there for us to grasp for each of us, Trying to show the World we are pretty …

My wife wrote this poem for a member of our church, because of her kindness and ability to recognize a fellow sister's pain. A Prayer I cried a single tear today Praying that someone Would see it, And wipe my tear away. I cried only a single tear Because just then I saw that you were there You told me that you Had been praying And thinking about me all day. You gave me hope Of seeing my mother again Easing her through the pain. And said that you knew it wasn?t much But it was all that you could do Well, let me tell you now Thanks for being so true. If all I can ever do in Christ Is wipe a fellow sister?s face Then I ask you now to …

A Reststop Along The Way When the valleys of life seem so dreary, And the way ahead seems so hard, My soul aches and cries out for a reststop - Somewhere safe I can let down my guard. A place of calm within the tempest, A hiding place from the wintery blast. A place of refuge for my troubled heart - Where Shiloh’s waters flow gently past. A comfort in my time of trouble; A haven of rest in my darkest day; A sanctuary where my soul is safe, A blessed shelter along the way. When I am dry and my soul is thirsty, You alone bring soothing to my pain; You are the only shadow in this weary land - The refreshing cloud that comes with th…

I've been writing since '68. Here is a sample. The Rock The rock! The rock! The forces of evil rage Around me like a wildfire! Fears, doubts, and failures Howl fiercely within me, But I will stand. I WILL STAND On the Rock, on the Rock! That Rock is Jesus!! July 15, 2000 Death Of A Marriage When men abdicate And women pontificate Nerves begin to grate Actions agitate, irritate, and aggravate Angry words proliferate So they bicarbonate and medicate Until they separate In a fit of hate From the one they chose as a mate Thus their family they decimate By swallowing satan

Oh, Lord, bring thy strength, Help me, for I am weak and tired; All praise and honor to thy glory, May you keep me eternally inspired. In life we walk down a path and that path is called life we live it for the one who created us. We should look for him in life, we should seek after him. When we listen for him we will hear him. Sometimes when we get so busy we forget to listen with hectic lives and others telling us how we should live. We must always remember God knows best and we should be listening to the still small voice. The devil tries anything to make us be from the voice of our creator. You must not listen to the roaring lion who wants to take away what God has made his a unity in Christ A marriage. You need God in that but if he isn't things will be terrible and that roaring line will get in …

A Touch of God's Grace By: Sadie Katharine ______ The invitation song began to play, As tears streamed down her face. She wondered if her broken heart could be healed that day Just for a little touch of God?s grace. Her life had been in a raging sea. Tossed too and fro, She cried out Lord, here my plea To Calvary you did go. A touch of God?s grace, That?s all that I need. Coming before Him with praise Bowing down at His feet. A touch of His hand, Abounding in mine, Coming to the Great I Am, Forever to be thine. Just a touch of His mercy, Guiding us along life?s race. He is all we need and there will always be. A touch of God?s grace. Love in…

On Tour (On the Roman’s Road) The tour guide said, “Ladies and Gentlemen, on your left as we enter the Roman’s Road, please notice the shabby run-down shack just behind those trees. At one time it was the most influential, prominent building in Christendom; it was, and still is, the first stop on the Romans Road. It enjoyed great blessings, and rose to great heights, while the multitudes stopped by often, but it soon became unpopular, overrun by pride: It was called ‘the beginning’. Notice the crossroads here, the sign post reads 310 Depravity Avenue. There are none righteous here, we see mayhem and violence everywhere. Lock your doors, as it is not safe to even …
