'Twas the night Jesus came and all through the house, not a person was praying, not one in the house... The Bible was left on the shelf without care, for no one thought Jesus would come there... The children were dressing to crawl into bed, not once ever kneeling or bowing their head... And Mom in the rocking chair with babe on her lap, was watching the Late Show as I took a nap... When out of the east there rose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter... Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters and lifted the sash... When what to my wondering eyes should appear, but Angels proclaiming t…

This is a poem that I wrote two days ago in my spare time. "Books" ~by Kaycee Lochner~ -Take a good book off the shelf, A story that you can read for yourself. Could be long, could be short, Just read a book of any sort! Mystery, romance, and even a fairy tale, All make you want to jump, laugh, and sometimes wail. In a good story, if you just look, You might find that you get hooked on that book!-

"Sing My Song for Me" - "He Leadeth Me"... Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters." (23:1&2) On the northwest corner of Broad and Arch Streets in Philadelphia stands an office building of the United Gas Improvement Company. On the front of this building is a bronze tablet paying tribute to a great hymn and its author, Joseph Gilmore. In 1862, Mr. Gilmore was a guest speaker for a couple of Sundays and Wednesday evening prayer service at the First Baptist Church of Philadelphia. At the Wednesday service, March 26, he used Psalm 23 as a text, dwelling mostly on the…

Must Mountain (Or, ?When ?Maybe? Turns to ?Must??) In four different styles. l I walked through the valley of ?Maybe?, And waded the swamp of despair; Looked for the hope of the lily, But found that it was not there! I fell in the pot-hole of depression, And forded the creek of doubt; Ploughed through the jungle of Sorrow, Looking for the elusive way out! I was lost in the Wilderness of frustration, Circling round and round, Ignoring the map I had with me, Heeding no vision nor sound; ll A mountain loomed mightily before me, But too tired to make the great climb, I camped at the base in a woeful place, Amid an oasis of slime! Up the mou…

One of my best friends is my Pastor's (Claude Madle's) brother in law, Bill Smith. Just before Christmas this past year, he and his family (including six children) were travelling in their truck, and hit an icy patch. They went off the road, and Bill's wife, Reesa, was thrown through the windshield and died. Everything they had with them was destroyed with the truck, though the rest of the family was fine. One of the older girls had injured her ankle, but nothing serious. When they picked up Reesa, they found her Bible - the only remaining object from the truck - underneath her. No doubt it was a legacy to her children, and a reminder that even in the hardest times, the L…

Shine forth, O light of God indwelling. May the flame burn clear and bright Fed by that pure and endless oil, The Spirit filling me. Let not This flesh, this mortal lamp, obscure The brightly burning flame. O God, Let not the lampstand intervene Or claim the glory for itself. May it be clean, and plain, and yielded To the holding of that precious Oil, flaming, burning brightly That the world may see Christ. - Joan. H. Lyon When I read this I was really encouraged and I want to encourage you all to be that light in this wicked world that burns clear and bright.

Life and Death Before I lived I did not wish for life; yet now that I live I do not wish for death. Yet both come unbidden and sudden. As I wait for sleep, I toss and turn with the realization: I am alive and will cease to be. Death will come upon me just as it has to all life before me. What does death have in store for me? Before I lived I had no thought of such things. There was no fear for there was no me... that I can recall. Will it be as it was before? Before life. Before me. Before my existence in this life? Will death restore me to the state I was in before life? Or is death just a stepping stone to another new life? Is death only the removal of my livi…

Ever thy hand hath hovered , Over this my wretched soul , In thy blood I am covered , Ever gentle doth it flow.... Oh mystery this sovereign grace , How you could love me , Salty tears fall down my face , And, I fall upon my knees ... Oh Jesus my blessed saviour , How can I ever thank thee ? Such a wonderful favor , At last I am free.........

~*KristiAnn*~ Though she has physical problems, & though her heart be compermized. The love in her heart is endless, & remain's unsized. Though the pain & discomfort & drugs make her, sad, sleepy & tired. Her heart of Gold, & is loved & admired. God made her a special mold, She has a unique story so I'm told. The warmth she receives, Helps when the worldly ways make it cold. Although, He brings us to our knee's, Who supply's us with our daily needs? It isn't the world with whom we can depend, For that will surely be our end. Remembering then, that all good things come from above. God send's us his love, through his…

It was written by an 8-year-old named Danny Dutton, who lives in Chula Vista, CA. He wrote it for his third grade homework assignment, to 'explain God.' I wonder if any of us could have done as well? [ .... and he had such an assignment, in California, and someone published it, I guess miracles do happen ! ... ] EXPLANATION OF GOD: 'One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grownups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way he doesn't have to take up his valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just l…

here is a poem that Dr. BOB Jones Sr. used to quote quite often. It is one of my favorites. I copied it from his biography, which is called "Builder of Bridges". Don't look so much at the style as the storyline: A Builder of Bridges An old man, traveling a lone highway, Came at the eventide cold and gray, To a chasm vast and deep and wide. The old man crossed in the twilight dim, The sullen stream held no fears for him, But he stopped when he reached the other side, And built a bridge to span the tide. “Old man”, said a fellow pilgrim near, “You are wasting your strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day, You never again wil…

I sat down and wrote some of this late Saturday night a long time ago (it seems like a long time ago, anyway), and I wrote the rest Sunday afternoon. It's not that good, and some stuff's wrong with it (example: 45. when referring to a pistol, when it's supposed to be .45), but here it is. God bless. Time: 12:32 a.m. Place: The United States Paranormal Investigative Base in South Georgia. Date: 2/9/2013. "See anything, Phil old boy?" a base guard, named Gabriel Collins, asked his partner. The two men were seated side-by-side at the OBservance center of the base - a place where the images of every video camera in the base could be viewed in a nine …

A Cabana by the Sea In a quaint cabana, On an island reef, Lived a man whose lifespan was, At the most considered “brief”. For nigh the dawn meets the tide, That old man death will come; With scythe in hand, to take a man, And pick him as a plum. The reaper grim, scythe in hand, Will come this very night; To collect another winsome soul, From a life of sin and blight. With the coming of morning light, Another soul shall be set free; A lonely man with bated breath, Meets death in a cabana by the sea. “A good man” his friends will claim, “And kind and true and pure”; But don’t ask his God my friend, You see, His judgment is good and sure. His …

Here’s a poem that I attempted to fit together the idea of being grateful for God’s forgiveness and remembering what He has done for us on Calvary (ie. thinking on these things in light of the Lord’s Supper - which my church will partake of in the evening service this coming Sunday). Thanks to my friend Gary for the suggestion (of the first idea). A Call To Remembrance I’ll never forget all the things You’ve done for me; How You died on the cruel cross of Calvary; You redeemed me from my sin and set me free; Now Lord Jesus, I am Yours eternally. I was a black sheep that had wandered astray; As a Good Shepherd, You sought me that day; You rescued m…

A CHRISTMAS POEM The wise men followed a distant star, it was a light unto their paths through a world of darkness. That star led them to Jesus. We would do well to also follow that star, to let its light be our guide; to come to Jesus. This star has moved now, from Bethlehem to Calvary. It is the “Daystar” bringing light to darkened souls. The wise men followed a distant star, A light of hope for them; A light to guide them through the night, And from the snares of evil men: That light led them to a greater Light, The King of kings is He; A greater Light, another Star, The Daystar of Calvary. Yes, that star of Bethlehem, Seen so long ago, Has mov…

I have read other variations of this story before but the truth is still pertinent: A Christmas Story There was once a man who didn't believe in God and he didn't hesitate to let others know how he felt about religion and religious holidays like Christmas. His wife, however, did believe and she raised their children to also have faith in God and Jesus, despite his disparaging comments. One snowy Christmas Eve, his wife was taking their children to a Christmas Eve service in the farm community in which they lived. She asked him to come, but he refused. "That story is nonsense!" he said. "Why would God lower Himself to come to Earth as a man? That's ridiculo…

So Unworthy I am unworthy of your grace, I am unworthy of your salvation so free. So unworthy of seeing your glorious face, And yet, you suffered for a sinner like me. So unworthy of your blessing you give, I am so unworthy for I fail day after day. So unworthy to live this life that I live, And yet, you reached down and showed me the way. I am so unworthy of your guidig hand, So unworthy for I have done so wrong. I am so unworthy to go to that Promised Land, And yet, you picked me up and said my child to me you belong. I am so unworthy to be loved, So unworthy for I have sinned. So unworthy to have a home in Heaven above, And yet, you made me whole,…

Once there was in the land of Ooze, a duck named Wa. He was born on a pond in Ooze, and stayed there for much of his duckling-hood. After he had grown, however, he longed to fly away and see the world; one particular day, he got his chance. Mother duck had told him not to go yet, because he wasn

One Window Is All I Need One window is all I need, To go explore the unknown world, To be the light to shine through the darkness, Be a leader like Jesus, And be all I can be, Through Jesus Christ, And become an Youth Pastor, And do God's Will! Faith I believe in the Lord. The Lord that came to this world, The Bible that says it, The God that sent His Son, Sacriface, Forgiveness, Gift. But I don't believe in other believes. I believe in the sacriface the Lord did, I believe in the forgiveness for my sins, I believe in the gift to be saved by the Lord, God, Jesus, Holy Spirit. And I believe in all this because the Bible says it because it is the …
