I was listening to Greg Locke and he gave 7 reasons why people leave churches. This was according to "Christianity" Today. 7. Preacher is not friendly 6.Nothing for the kids 5. Facilities are filthy 4. All about money 3. Not exciting enough 2. I am not getting fed 1. Somebody offended me One thing I realized, and Bro. Locke pointed out, was there wasn't one about heresy, apostasy, linking up with heretics or apsotates. What do you guys think about this list?

Review of the book, “The Book of Revelation,” By Clarence Larkin Review by Alan Background of Larkin Clarence Larkin, October 28, 1850 to January 24, 1924, was a Baptist pastor and Bible expositor. Converted at age 19, he joined the Episcopal Church. He entered college and graduated as an Mechanical Engineer. Larkin did not attend any theological seminary. Larkin left the Episcopal Church and became a Baptist. Larkin was ordained into the ministry and was an, “American Baptist Church,” pastor. “The Book of Revelation,” a detailed Commentary with visual Charts, was originally a 4-month Sunday morning sermon series later developed into a Bible Institute course and eventual…

Brethren, I would like to do a review of the book written by Clarence Larkin, "The Spirit World." For those brethren who do not have a copy, a free PDF copy can be obtained by the following website: http://www.earnestlycontendingforthefaith.com/Books/Clarence Larkin/TheSpiritWorld/ClarenceLarkinTheSpiritWorld01.html I would suggest that those who obtain the PDF copy "The Spirit world" to read the foreword. The material contained in Larkin's, "The Spirit World," both written and how he presents it on the charts, is, except for a few notable exceptions, excellent material for a better understanding of the scriptures. In my previous study on Larkin's, …

1Ti 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 1Ti 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. In the 1828 Webster we find the word silence to mean With these two verses being so clear that women are to be silent, why do we allow them to sing? Is this not disOBeying what Paul told Timothy?

I like to think that from a theological point of view and even a cultural point of view I'm rather conservative in my outlook. ('What saith the Scriptures?' is a healthy yardstick.) But what might be called hyper-conservatism is sometimes quite different in tone and content. To be honest, I must admit that I am baffled by some of the other threads which seem to be based on the premise that some cultural customs (whether about certain sports, attire, etc.) being supposedly wrong inherently, thus supposedly rendering people suspect theologically if they don't share the same vehement opposition to them. Put another way, conservatism seems to be vastly different from hyper-…

Delusion: an idiosyncratic belief or impression that is firmly maintained despite being contradicted by what is generally accepted as reality or rational argument, typically a symptom of mental disorder. A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary. I will pick out to site the topic: Atheists and delusion. The phrase in the definition sited above. "A delusion is a belief held with strong conviction despite superior evidence to the contrary" Superior evidence need I say more. Israel all of the geographic data in the Bible. The existence of all the peoples listed in the Bible. The archaeological evidence for all t…

I saw on O'Reilly tonight that there's a 10 hour miniseries called The Bible on The History Channel that starts at 8pm this Sunday. Supposedly it will stick to the literal story telling of the bible from Genesis through Revelation without adding anything. O'Reilly was giving the producers some guff about this because in his mind the bible mostly allegorical and the gospels are full of contradictions which, of course, the blow-hard's coming book Killing Jesus will straighten out. Some of the previews looked good so I think I'll check it out. http://www.history.com/shows/the-bible

These are questions for thought, and I world like to see some opinions. In your opinions, what would happened if drugs were made legal? Would things be better or worse? Wasn't it in the early 1900's when they were made illegal? Did things get better after this? Is the main goal of drugs being illegal actually a way for big business, drug companies even the pharmacy and doctors to make money by being the only legal way to obtain such drugs? I started this topic here because of this topic, I didn't want to hijack it. BEWARE! Afghanistan South viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25953

Jessie you have been messing with the calendar again haven't you. Just because you have the same birthday as me doesn't mean that you have to go put it all over the internet (well that might be a bit of an exageration(sp?)). Jessie I am just kidding all though if it weren't for you and the rest of the annoying little people in our class that spred it because of my sis hardly noone would know when by birthday is.
