Our church has a young lady that has been newly saved who is in need of a sound Independent Baptist Church. She was saved in our church and has been attending faithfully, but because of her husband's work, is needing to relocate to Wisconsin. I told her I would ask on the forums and see if anyone might know of a sound church in the area she is moving to. She said her location will be Hanover, WI. She also said it is near Janesville, WI. I don't personally know anyone who lives near there to get a recommendation from. Anyone have any suggestions?

In the future I'm considering changing the software from phpBB to either MyBB or SMF. Those of you that have used either of these, what is your opinion on them? Because of certain reasons, I will not even consider IPB or vBulletin. I will consider other paid forum software. :lol

Insight: In Greece, a painful return to country roots KONITSA, Greece (Reuters) - Thirteen years after abandoning rural Greece for a career in graphic design, Spiridoula Lakka finds herself in the last place she expected to end up - watering a patch of lettuce and herbs in her sleepy village. As Greece sank into its worst economic crisis since World War Two, Lakka had already given up her dream of becoming a web designer. Even waitressing seemed impossible. She faced a simple choice: be stranded without money in Athens, or return to the geriatric village where she grew up plotting to escape. At age 32, Lakka, an office clerk who also juggled odd jobs, joined a growing…

I know this maybe should go in the computer forum, but I wanted more people to see it. I stumbled across the work of a late 18th century painter named Albert Bierstadt several years ago, and simply fell in love with his work. I recently took my favorite one, added a Bible verse with photoshop and am using it for my wallpaper. I wanted to share it with anyone who also wanted to see it or even use it. You can download it at http://dannycarlton.net/bierstadt03.jpg. If there's enough interest I'll do some more of his paintings with other verses and in other screen sizes.

Online Baptist has been one of the most unloving environments I've ever experienced in my 26 years of Christian ministry, which is sad, especially since Jesus said, "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" (John 13:35). I, too, am far from perfect, but know we can do so much better. Here are some thoughts on how we can improve. Be Aware of God’s Presence Be mindful that we're always in God's presence, even in a discussion forum. "And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear" (1 Peter 1:17). "But it is go…

Prayer is a very important matter. Consider that Jesus, the very Son of God, was constantly in prayer. Look upon the many passages on the importance of prayer. One of the greatest things we can do for another is to lift them up before our Heavenly Father in prayer. Why is it that our Prayer Request forum appears to be so little used? At quick look it would appear that very few people here take the time to pray for those who have posted requests. I was just looking over that forum and noticed, looking at the first two pages, that the number of responses to most prayer requests were fewer than 10; many were far fewer than 10. In the past some have said they pray bu…

Wow, found this interesting. In a nutshell...dentist owned an office. Wife worked for him. He had a female assistant for 10 years but he started to be attracted to her. It began to be a threat to his marriage. He counseled with his pastor and they agreed she should be fired, so he fired her with a month's severance pay. Woman sued, and the dentist actually WON the case. Family first, for once. Interesting. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/12/22/iowa-court-rules-boss-can-fire-employee-considers-irresistible-attraction/?test=latestnews?test=latestnews

We often quote, 2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver." Does the Bible speak about cheerful non-givers?

INTERESTING STUFF In the 1400's a law was set forth in England that a man was allowed to beat his wife with a stick no thicker than his thumb. Hence we have 'the rule of thumb' ------------------------------------------- Many years ago in Scotland , a new game was invented. It was ruled 'Gentlemen Only...Ladies Forbidden'...and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language. ------------------------------------------- The first couple to be shown in bed together on prime time TV were Fred and Wilma Flintstone. ------------------------------------------- Every day more money is printed for Monopoly than the U.S. Treasury. ----…

This was a blessing to watch. It's the testimony of the former serial killer "son of sam" who will be in prison for the rest of his life I guess. A few thoughts we had after watching it - In Old Testament times he would have been killed right away. Now he's locked up in prison for life, but after watching this testimony, both my husband and I had the feeling like "he should be pardoned now" since he has reformed his ways. But yet there's life consequences for his actions. http://www.washedred.com/content/?contentID=32 This also got me thinking about people who have life terms. Some of them must be very aged by now. I never thought about the elderly in prison befo…

My dad is now working as a manager for a gas station. He found out that if a product (candy bars, for instance) has gone past their expiration date even by 1 day, they are to throw it out. My dad asked is boss if he could take them and give them to our bus ministry director to use as treats for bus kids. He said that sounded like a good idea. Dad came the next day with about 5 full boxes of candy bars to pass out to the kids. Oh, these were KING size candy bars.

On average, how much time do you spend on the internet each day? Do you have some sort of method of accountability or scheduling of your internet browsing? Do you wish you had some sort of accountability or scheduling? Do you think you spend too much time online? Has it been a temptation to you to look at bad things online before? Has your misuse of internet time caused problems in your family relations at any time?

It's always good to try to interpret the Bible in a sound way. Sometimes it can be easy to be drawn into pulling verses from here and there and putting them together and the result is rather unsatisfactory. So it can be useful to ask various questions, such as: Who is speaking in the passage? Who is being spoken to? and when? For example there are two verses of Scripture here: 'And Judas went and hanged himself.' 'Go thou and do likewise.' From an interpretational point of view, it can be unsound to jump to conclusions too quickly, right? We need to ask sensible questions first before, in a fit of enthusiasm, we pull one verse from somewhere and make it a…

Investments We have talked much about being right with God, and wise with our money. We discussed prosperity, and what it entails, (though very briefly), and how it is achieved, and by whom it is OBtained, but to carry things a little further, let me warn my Christian friends about investments. Investing in even the stock market is a gamble at the least. What is the difference in that or playing “bingo”? Or what difference is it with the state lottery? The chances are better perhaps, with “wise” investments, but the gamble is the same! Perhaps we dwell too much on the dollar! I know of good, godly men who try to do things right, and be honest in their busine…
