Hi~ I am pretty new to this site. But thank the Lord for finding it. :D I was wondering how many people on this board homeschool their children and what lead you to? I have been homeschooling my 13 dd since she was in the 5th grade. And she starts highschool next year. I also have a 10 dd that attends a small charter school and a 4 ds that I plan on homeschooling next year. I am starting to have serious doubts about keeping the 13 dd at home. She wants to attend highschool. Have any of you gone that route? Just blabbing! :) God Bless and have a Blessed New Year! Amanda

What homeschool curriculum do you use? My family uses Christian Liberty for my 6th grader. Our youngest is not old enough for school yet. We only pay about $125 per child. We tried Abeka and loved the books, but it was way to expensive. Over $400 a year per child. I even tried to ebay alot of the books, but I ended up with too many different editions. Nothing matched up. Bob Jones we found were just a little confusing on some of the layouts of the books. Does your state have alot of requirements for homeschooling your children? The only thing Arizona requires is to give notification that the child is homeschooled. No tests are required, no special curriculum, …

I am home school all the way! But I have heard people say that if the mother is a high school drop-out then she should not home school her kids (even though it is Biblical). What do you all think? Katy-Anne

Because homeschooled kids are more "sheltered" than public school kids, how do you make sure that they'll adjust to the real world and keep their values?

This is for all the home schooling teachers and Sunday School teachers in your churches. WHAT TEACHERS MAKE The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Susan. Be honest. What do you make?" Susan, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know wha…

As my wife is now 4 months with our first I need to start prepping for homeschooling. As I work from home and am more suited to the task we have decided that I will be responsible for this and seeing that I wasn't the best kid at school all advice would be appreciated.

My husband and I want to home-school our children but all of the curriculum we have looked at is out of our financial reach. Our pastor's wife has offered to borrow us her BJU video that she has and some teachers guides but that is still spendy. Does anyone know of some less expensive materials out there that are easy for a first time homeshool teacher?

I thought we were making progress with my 5th grader and her math, but her achievement test returned and she's still in the hole. She tested at a third grade level. So, I'm thinking LifePac to get her caught up, but maybe you all have suggestions on better math resources.

Hey, I was wondering what you all thought about Bju satalite school or abeka's video school. I'm looking for a way to make school more challanging for Bethany. as a side note I just have to share this. During Christmas break Bethany told matt that she didn't see the need to do school any more because she knew God wanted her to be a missionary and she already knows how to read....   she was quite serious. We didn't laugh then but had a good one when we were alone later. Of course we explained to her that school was God's will for her life right now. She understands and has a much better look at school now. I would just like to make it more f…

Is anyone or has anyone here homeschooled their high school age children? Our oldest will be ready for high school this year and I've been looking at many different ideas and options. I've not yet decided which route we will take but it's nearing the time I'll be narrowing things down and going through the process of elimination as I work to make the final decision. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, links, websites, pointers or whatever would be greatly appreciated. He's not college bound and he may decide to join the military, so he doesn't need or want college prep.

I do not want to debate the issues on this thread, one of them has been debated before, I just want to give you a situation and ask how you would deal with it if you believed the same as me which I realize most of you on here don't. If you homeschooled your children with Christian curriculum that in general is top quality and very good, but disagreed with a few things like this, how would you deal with it? Ok so most of you know that I believe geocentricity not heliocentricity. If the books teach helioicentricity but we firmly and strongly without a doubt believe the geocentric theory to be correct Biblically, would you teach your children geocentricity and then hel…

Mom jailed for homeschooling kids Dad, children flee Germany which banned practice under Hitler Last Thursday the German police arrested Katharina Plett, a homeschooling mother of twelve. Yesterday her husband fled to Austria with the children. Homeschooling is illegal in Germany since Hitler banned it in 1938. The Plett family belongs to a homeschooling group of seven Baptist families in Paderborn. We wrote about their case last year... I received this from a friend, and was asked to pass it on. It is self explanatory. This is not an e-mail chain letter or any garbage like that. This is a warning about something very real. I know both individuals in this letter. ****************** Dear Friends, I have lately had calls from a man pretending to be interested in our church. He quickly starts telling me about how he disciplines his children and then asks about your methods. He is really "creepy." I have posted messages in the Christian forums and clubs that I am a member of to warn others of this man. To my surprise, I have found at least 3 other ladies that have gone through what I did. He appa…

Exodus Mandate Applauds ABC 20/20 Special With John Stossel Are American Kids Stupid? That's the question ABC's John Stossel will ask on 20/20 Friday night, January 13, as he describes the academic failure of America's public schools when compared with schools in other industrialized nations. For many years Exodus Mandate has been warning Christian parents and pastors that the government's "public" schools are destroying our children spiritually, morally and academically. Over the last two years many Christian leaders have come to agree that the public schools are indeed cauldrons of spiritual and moral pathologies. For example, the Southern Baptist Convention's lea…

I am new here, and I will admit, I didn't read through each and every post on the homeschool forum. I just glanced at them and read a few. I'm just wondering, is there anyone on here whose kids attend public schools? :)

My question is for those that homeschool, or will homeschool, or would if they had children...oh well, it's for anybody! Can you show me Biblically why you homeschool? I've had 2 people tell me they homeschool because of Deut 6. I just can't seem to understand what they are talking about. Looking for some insight.
