Forget what its called, but I just love this new product...its like a baby teether but at the end there is this little mesh bag and you put fruit or ice or whatever in it, and close it in the tight lock, and baby can chew and suck on it without fear of choking. (I think it was invented by a father who lost a baby from choking... :( ) Anyway its neat because I have been letting Andrew chew on fruit in one while we eat, then he stays safe and busy until I can get to him again. You can find it in the feeding stuff in the baby section.

Children accepting Christ 1 2

I know that when children are raised in a good Christian home, they often get saved at a young age. I also know there is an age accountability. When do you know when your child has reached that? Also if I child accepts at a very young age say three four maybe five, don't they often start having doubts of their salvation because they cant remeber everthing that took place so they are not for sure they really accepted Christ or not? The reason I am asking, Sami my daughter that will be four in December told me today she had a broken heart and she wanted Jesus to fix it. she also has been talking about how Jesus died on the cross and has a little picture KJV Bible for tod…

The last few days have been very busy, and filled with stressful events enough for me. I came home from work today, dead tired and ready for some relaxation. Dinner was not quite ready, and my son, The Roodle, was anxious for me to come immediately and fix his bicycle. He has two. One is a small one that came with training wheels, which he has just about outgrown. The other is a larger green one that is still too big for him, but I bought some generic training wheels and put them on it for him. They stick up off the wheel, and he likes to put his wagon handle on it and pull it with his bike. In the process, one of them had shifted off, and now it was one sided. La…

When I was a youth pastor I would notice that some teens were missing from teen activities or from church, so the next time I would see them I would ask them where they were. To my amazement they would tell me that their parents would not let them come because they were punished over something that they did wrong. We would always have preaching at every event and God touched many lives during these times and those kids that were not allowed to come needed to hear those messages. God uses the foolishness of preaching so please don't take that away. I realize that this is my opinion and I want to encourage parents not to use church as a form of discipline, but rather tak…

That was the title of a headline on my MSN homepage. I fully understand that the content of the article is worthwhile but it just struck me the wrong way. Are we that stupid these days that we need someone to tell us what to do if our baby falls or are they running out of headlines??? :bonK: http://lifestyle.msn.com/FamilyandParen ... 4>1=6961

My wife and I both have a strong desire to adopt a child. We've just been waiting on the Lord for direction in this area. Does anyone else share this desire? Has anyone else ever adopted a child?

Do/Did you have a particular theme for your child/ren's room(s)? We did Thomas the Tank Engine for our oldest but we have 4 kids now and it is just whatever. Some people really get into the themes or special characters though. I recently bought a pair of Barney tennis shoes at a Thrift store for 50 cents. I sold them on Ebay yesterday for quite a bit more than what I paid for them so that was fun. *Needs a dollar sign emoticon*

Accident prone kids

Do any of you have one child that is totally accident prone? My oldest daughter is really trying hard to get really hurt bad. Early this summer she had a bad corneal abrasion that left a permenant scar on her eye. The nshe had some sense knocked into her head with a baseball bat. (The scar looks awesome, it is healing great). Wednesday night she wrecked her bike and now has road rash, her dad cleaned her up nice with peroxide, betadine, and bacitracin. She has no complaints of pain. I got looking at her wrist about 11pm and nocticed it is red and swollen. So off to the urgent care we go, in the morning. I doubt if it is broken cause she moves it well, I just thi…

What does your spouse think of you being on OB? I have heard from different people that their spouse thought it was a waste of time or they didn't care as long as it didn't interfere with other things or that they were glad their spouse had a Christian place to fellowship. What about you? What does your spouse think?

I am not talking of spanking, I am talking of stuff like saying excuse, and such. I will give an example, and I also will ask that my example not be picked apart. It is just an example of what I talking about. Today at the pool Sami kept cutting other kids off, walking right in front of them and such. I am not saying she was doing it on purpose to be mean, she just wasn't watching what she was doing. So I informed her she shouldn't be rude and to stop getting in front of others. My natural tone of voice is usually harsh with a little colorful language thrown in for variety. I'm not the type to go "now honey don't do that" I am more of the type to say get your…

"Mommy, when I get bigger, can I say bad words?" I replied, "Honey, it is never OK to say bad words - even when a person is older". She said, "But I want to say, 'stupid'". Her 7-year old brother had told her that 'stupid' was a bad word and she should never say it. I told her that 'stupid' was not a "bad word" but it wasn't a very nice word either - especially if one is talking about another person. She said she wanted to say 'stupid toy' and that she wouldn't call any person 'stupid'. If that is all my children ever come to learn about bad words, I shall indeed be a blessed woman.

Fundie Eharmony? 1 2

Any chance that there is a Ind Fundie version of Eharmony?? Seems that it is tough to find a good mate now days partly because the Ind singles seem to be scattered pretty wide and contact is tough to come up with. Is setting something up like that a lack of faith or just way to meet people? What do you think? I have a really smart and good looking son that is just looking for a female friend until he gets out of his Physical Therapy Assistant school in a year. After that he will be more inclined towards something deeper. Any single lass interested in that kind of relationship here in the Dallas area can e-mail me and I will "introduce" ya. He doesn't know I am doin…

How old were your kids when they began to walk? I was thinking of this with the Potty training discussion. I recall both my kids were late walkers. Rachel took her first steps on her birthday and but didn't actually start until for another2 weeks. Sami didn't start until she was 13 months. I recall in both incidences my father in law was convinced there was something wrong with my girls cause they didn't start at 9 months. I rolled my eyes and reassured him his girls were normal, and now my girls are runners.

Spank a child? OR Not to spank a child? My wife and I take it saying the Bible in God's word "Spare the Rod and spoil the child". They are a difference of giving abusing a child or kid and hitting or abusing a child. What is your view on this? I think its nice to be able to discuss parenting views and share opinions. (So many other boards out there just argue and fight and its no fun) Glad you all are nice.... Sure others may have a different view or opinion but we should try our best to say an a opinion without arguement. Right? I hope so... Thank you all... and hope to hear some of your views and opinions please? The fact is, so …

This may seem like a weird question, but I have been thinking about it a lot this morning. How Do You Learn To Care For People? Feel free to rip this post apart - or else pray for me and help me in this area. The following are general statements: The reason I don't actively go soulwinning is because I don't care enough. I do witness online, and when I preach at the Gospel Mission - but I don't really do it on a one-to-one basis, at least not with people I don't know. My tract distributing is hit or miss (mostly miss). Easier to deal with a crowd - less personal. Since I started preaching about 20 months ago, my nerves have gotten so much worse, so I spend…

Child proofing
by Guest Guest- 7 replies

Did anyone child proof here? I don't recall going out of my way to child proof my house. Chemicals are still under the sink, drugs (legal of course) have always laid around the house. Knick Knacks were always with in hands reach. Knives and stuff were always accessible. The gun is in a locked box. But that was the main thing. I would tell my girls NO, when they reached out and grabbed or smack a hand. I never had anything broken, they were never hurt. I did gate off the living room when Sami was younger. I would take a cat nap on the sofa because I worked the night shift. Usually I would have daddy keep her up really late, midnight or so, and I would come…

Biblical purpose of marriage 1 2 3
by Guest Guest- 36 replies
- 2.8k views
What is the Biblical purpose of marriage? (please use Scripture in answering) I am sure this was covered in one point of time in my SS class and I forgot the answer. I am asking because I recall when we met with the pastor that married us for premarital counseling that he was really not to happy about marrying us, because I didn't want children. I think the reason why he married us, because of our living arrangements. I had a brother on another Christian board say to me, that if it wasn't for having children then marriage would just be a copout to have guilt free pleasure. Is the purpose of a Biblical marriage to produce offspring to raise and serve the LORD? …
