Salvation Can Be Achieved through Non-Christian Religions "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Moslems. These profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day... Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience-those too may achieve eternal salvation" (Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, chap. …

We recently had a new poster at another board who claims to be the Messiah, returned. After some comments I made, I got a couple of back and forth emails with this guy. Anyway, I thought it would be interesting to post it in the false religion section for any discussion that is to be had (if anything). I was kind enough to remove the formatting, as it looks terrible online. You can find this guy at http://www.theDASHtestamentDASHofDASHtr ... m#page_156 (put "-" where the DASHs are... I would like to give this guy as little web traffic as possible, so googlebots will not follow this). Anyway, its not everyday you get to email back and forth with a 'messiah'…

I watched a show about the dead sea scrolls last night and it mentioned that they think John the baptist, and even Jesus came out of Essenes. Do you think it is possible? This show and some websites made it look like they were making up religion as they go and that it was the beginning of christianity (we all know that the beginning of christianity was when Jesus walked on Earth) . I also wonder if they could be the hypocrites or Pharisees that Jesus mentioned because the Essenes were Jewish and they don't believe they should associate with "unclean" people. here is a website on about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essenes I am not asking questions for myself, …

What are the essentials and non-essentials of Christianity? Who has the authority to decide which parts of the Christian faith are essential and which parts are not so essential?

I hear all the time, about people who have died, being in Heaven now. Regardless of their salvation or not, is the statement itself accurate?

 So I ran into a Jedi Now, I had heard that there are people who actually follow this, and of course, this weirdo stuff slowly dies as we get farther and farther from the last star wars movement... but this is what happened: I'm at a restaurant, and the guy near me is talking about how his religion is Jedi. Oh, his group of friends all eat it up, as he tells them all about it. It just boils down to Buddhist really.. self improvement, inner piece, happiness without material stuff..... I didn't break into the convo, one of them asked me a question cuz they saw me sorta quietly laughing over and over, now and then shaking my head. I wasn't doing this to get thei…

I just found this website and thought those here who have expressed concerns about how to approach a catholic may find it very useful. It contains a lot of info (so I have only scanned it so far) and is by a former nun turned Christian. In her own words she states, "I believe in the three "solas" of the Protestant Reformation. We are saved by faith alone (not faith plus works). We are saved by faith in Jesus alone (not Jesus plus something else). Our rule of faith is the Bible alone (not the Bible plus tradition or other writings)." It even has entire books she has written on the subject free and on line. http://www.catholicconcerns.com/index.html Maybe this c…

Why did Luther say this about Revelation (Apocalypse)?
by Guest Guest- 4 replies
Luther teaches: "to my mind it (the book of the Apocalypse) bears upon it no marks of an apostolic or prophetic character... Everyone may form his own judgment of this book; as for myself, I feel an aversion to it, and to me this is sufficient reason for rejecting it." (Sammtliche Werke, 63, pp. 169-170, 'The Facts About Luther,' O'Hare, TAN Books, 1987, p. 203.) But Christ taught this about the book of Revelation: "18: For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: 19: And if any man shall take away from the words of the b…

Everyone is familiar with the book of mormon. Just why is it a false testament according to the scriptures? First, for a testament to exist there must be the death of a testator: Hebrews 9:16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. So let's use this litmus test on the following three: Old Testament New Testament Book of Mormon First, for the Old Testament we see this written: Hebrews 9:18-20 18 Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet …

In the search for a definition of what the Emerging Church sees as its goals and ideals, we have come up pretty dry. They seem to like being undefineable according to the video linked to below. Anyway, for those of you who are interested in what the movement's leaders are saying, here is a non-Christian (denominationally impartial :Green ) news piece that explains what the Emerging Church's purpose is. The video near the top of the page is very informative. http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/week845/cover.html#

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/06/14/news/goddess.php Washington's latest luminary: a child goddess from Nepal By Neela Banerjee Published: June 14, 2007 WASHINGTON: Even by the standards of the luminaries who sweep through Washington, the little girl in front of Lafayette Elementary School north of the White House was special. Politicians, power brokers and the occasional celebrities who come through town hope to be respected and maybe, in a childlike place in their grown-up hearts, genuinely liked. Sajani Shakya, 10, is worshipped. In Nepal, Sajani is a living goddess, one of about a dozen such goddesses in her homeland who are considered earthly manifestatio…

The nakedpastor 1 2

I didn't know what was the appropriate forum was to put this in. So I figured false religion was close enough. There was a expose of the nakedpastor on Slice of Laodicea and apprising ministries. He is a teacher in the Vineyard church. Well I went on his site and there were nude art photos and all kind of emergent style gobble de goop. I saw that he was talking about the sol and ken silva from apprising. So I read the comments from his followers. I commented with the bible and none of them cared what the bible said about anything, they even mocked me for cutting and pasting bible verses and looking up verses that dealt with the issues. The question is I am saddened, but a…

Since the "primary" claim to supremacy of the Catholic church is an unbroken line of apostolic succession ask them to explain this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antipope I haven't yet located this discussed in their own literature but I find it sad and comical that with such a history they are still so deluded. This is just a sick glimpse of where most "emergent" and "seeker sensitive" churches are headed. 'A female dancer dances in a skin coloured stocking in the middle of the church in front of the altar. She crawls about on the floor and wraps herself in a hanging down white cloth. Is this a blasphemous provocation, a scoffing at the Christian religion? 'No it is only one of the items on the agenda of the Protestant Church Assembly. The six-hundred-year-old church, the Church of the Carthusians in the south of Cologne has become the stage for an erotic church service. Nearly one thousand interested people waited outside the door of the former monastery, despite a thunderst…

I just returned from a day trip to St. Augustine, FL. We did a tour around town on a trolley, stopped at a couple of history museums and had a nice lunch there, but something about the day did not "sit right" with me...so when I returned home I have done some additional checking, beyond just the usual tourist attractions, etc. What I discovered gave me the creeps!!! http://www.americancatholic.org/Messeng ... ature2.asp

We must take great care when witnessing to, and debating, those in false religions, that we take great pains to try to represent their position accurately. Far too often, Christians build strawmen(often unknowingly) of their opponents, and knock them down easily, at which point the person in the false religion is like "Yeah, so? I don't believe that." When we misrepresent their religion, we give a bad testimony. One way to avoid doing this, is when witnessing, to ask them what they believe. Not merely go by what you *think* their religion teaches. Mormonism is a great example of this. Even the official Mormon publications come with a disclaimer stating "not everything …
