[tube][/tube] "This song was written by Abigail Miller. Our mixed trio sang this song for our annual student convention (we won first place) and it was requested that we sing it again for the 2005 graduation ceremony. It was a blessing to many people, and I hope that you are blessed by it too."

Heard this "worship song" while watching a video of a local church in my area...there were a couple of verses repeated sporadically, but for the vast majority of the 9 minutes they sang the song, this is what it consisted of... I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. I am a friend of Go-ah-od. I am a friend of God; he calls me friend. I am a friend of God. …

Before yesterday, I made a new track, since I had a little time on my hands. My brother got the idea of playing it while they were showing the slide show of photos from my dad's life at church yesterday (even though I didn't write it for that) and my mom thought it was a good idea. So, they played it yesterday, and though I was kind of nervous about it, seems that most people liked it. Well, I decided to post a link here if anybody wanted to listen to it. I will warn you guys though that it has at two points a distorted brass section which sounds a bit similar to an electric guitar, but no beats (meaning drums) or anything. Hope you guys don't mind that. I didn't want to …

Have you ever walked into Walmart or another store and heard a song that was other than a Christian Hymn, and you started singing or humming along with it because you used to listen to that song? Well, count that problem solved! When your foot starts tapping the beat, start singing a well known hymn such as Amazing Grace, or Jesus Loves Me :sing:. It might not work the first few times you try, but you have to somehow tune those songs out in order to be seperate from the world. You could even try quoting a verse that you have memorized , or start praying :pray . If you ACTUALLY try, it will be easy.

Words and music by hank williams sr. I wandered so aimless life filed with sin I wouldn't let my dear saviour in Then jesus came like a stranger in the night Praise the Lord I saw the light. Chorus I saw the light I saw the light No more darkness no more night Now I'm so happy no sorrow in sight Praise the Lord I saw the light. Just like a blind man I wandered along Worries and fears I claimed for my own Then like the blind man that God gave back his sight Praise the Lord I saw the light. Chorus I was a fool to wander and astray Straight is the gate and narrow the way Now I have traded the wrong for the right Praise the Lord I saw the light. …

We sang this song last weekend, and I thought it was an old hymn. Its powerful lyrics are reminiscent of the theology we find in so many great hymns. To my delight, this was just recently written. This kind of theology is so lacking in so much "new" Christian music. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy worship music, but much of it is fluf, and I have no problem admitting that. I was glad to see that writing good music is not dead. In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease M…

I'm sure someone's done this sometime in the past, but let's do it again! What is your favorite hymn? Feel free to post the lyrics. I'm going to do two, since I'm the OP. Saved by the Blood Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun, Sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son, Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! Refrain Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved! My sins are all pardoned, my guilt is all gone! Glory, I’m saved! Glory, I’m saved! I am saved by the blood of the Crucified One! Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! The angels rejoicing because it is done; A child of the Father, joint heir wi…

Besides the piano or organ.... what are appropriate instruments to have in church? I know the drums are out, but what about stringed instruments, brass etc.... the reason that I am asking is that the church that we are attending has an elderly man that plays the guitar with some of the songs and special music, and I just love it. Just wondered what your thoughts were?

Justin Martyr (139 A.D.), an early church Father "The use of [instrumental] music was not received in the Christian churches, as it was among the Jews, in their infant state, but only the use of plain song.... Simply singing is not agreeable to children [the aforementioned Jews], but singing with lifeless instruments and with dancing and clapping is. On this account the use of this kind of instruments and of others agreeable to children is removed from the songs of the churches, and there is left remaining simply singing." Tertullian (200 A.D.), an early church Father "Musical concerts with viol and lute belong to Apollo, to the Muses, to Minerva and Mercury who invent…

Hey all, As a professional-level composer with Baptist doctrine, I wanted to share some lost but powerful perspectives on Biblical music and church tradition, and the ripple effect they've created throughout history, often not fully known or clarified among many Baptist churches of our day: When you get a chance do watch the whole thing through, I'm hoping the video will be a real eye-opener and profoundly educational, albeit in a simple way. God bless, James of UGC

hey! k, this kinda came up in some of the other threads but i kinda wanted to see what your opinions are on contemporary music that is performed in church without the bass, drums, etc. I've noticed several fundamental Baptist churches that I've visited using contempory music but without the rhythm. While not necessarily wrong, is this a step in the wrong direction for IFB churches? While i don't mind original contemporary worship songs that were written by IFB people, it's kinda weird listening to music that started in New Evangelical and Pentacostal churches and were originally performed by artists in those churches even if it is minus the rhythm section. Should IFB chu…

My first post! Will post again soon introducing myself. In the meanwhile, does anyone have any information on MyMusicInc.Com? I came across them while searching for real players. It doesn't seem one can simply download the real players all by itself. Their information seems almost too good to be true--so maybe it is :? They offer free downloading of tons of music and videos for a modest signup fee. I would appreciate any information anyone can provide. Thanks a million! Onesimus
