Hi Anybody Out There! I'm new here, but just wanted to mention a great new hymnal put out by Majesty Music....."Rejoice Hymns" containing the favorites from the Majesty Hymns with many more added. I came across it while looking for something else....downloaded some samples, and ordered a spiral edition along with some of their instructional books. Great product! I also love Songs & Hymns of Revival...all 3 editions, from North Valley Baptist , my very favorite ministry & wonderful online resource! For inspired evangelistic music, not to mention old fashioned bible preaching, they are 2nd to none!....check them out at www.nvbc.com....... Both of these are exce…

Here's a track I was asked to make based on a short clip I made earlier. It's sort of a mix of Asian and orchestral music I guess. AFAIK, the way I have the percussion in there is OK, right? I'm not emphasizing the backbeat like rock does. But I still wanted to ask what you guys think of it. Is it good or not? (Personally, I'm quite sure it is good, but I wanna make sure.) http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInf ... ID=4511172

One thing I don't understand 1 2

Ok so I don't listen to a lot of CCM, but the stuff I do listen to is edifying. This morning I was listening to a new CD and God really spoke to me through one of the songs. People I know say that God CANNOT speak to you through ANY CCM song, but they are wrong because I KNOW God spoke to me through that song. So why do people stand around saying God can't when God did? What kind of music instruments do you play??? I want to learn to play a new instrument... I can play the piano and organ I can play the guitar.. although I need more practice, right now I just play it by ear... I took violin and viola lessons in grade school... I thought that I had forgotten, until the other day when I had a chance to play a violin... somehow it all comes back to you... I admit I was very very rusty... but I did remember, and played some things on it. I want to learn to play the harp now!!! It is so beautiful, and it would be a great challenge!

Hi everyone. I notice that most Fundamentalist Baptists are against rock and Christian rock. I can understand being against secular rock because it is often sinful but I don't understand why they are against Christian rock. Could someone please help me to understand this?

black spirituals 1 2
by Guest Guest- 25 replies

Are black spirituals ok? I mean I really like them, but I don't want to listen to them if they are wrong. Yesterday I did something really bad. I was at the shops and like I saw my friend and she said hi and moved on. I was in front of a music store and when she left it was playing Abba. Now, back when I was listening to rock n roll, I loved Abba. So when I heard it I...umm...went into the shop to hear the rest of the song. I came out with two CD's of these black spirituals. So yeah they were bought in a secular music shop. And I know I shouldn't have been in there because it always makes me struggle. And I am supposed to be saving my money really hard to get ba…

Memorizing Hymns 1 2
by Jerry- 21 replies

Does anyone else here find it easy to memorize some of your favourite hymns? There are probably a dozen or two I don't even need to look at the hymnal for at all - except for the order of some stanzas. Also, are there any of your favourite hymns where you have the song number memorzed, so that when they say "turn to hymn 256" (for example), you are inwardly saying, "Yes, I love It Is Well With My Soul!" There are a couple I know. As far as hymns memorized, these are the ones I can think of right off the bat: Amazing Grace (Newton) It Is Well With My Soul (Spafford) Alas, And Did My Saviour Bleed (Watts) At The Cross (Watts) All The Way Once For All (Bliss) …

I'm looking for some good non-worldly Christian Music, Right now I only have a few select songs and it took me awhile to find them. I'm hoping to find more. I want the music to have a singer and I tend to like Instrumental Hymns with lots of different instruments but if only it could have someone singing too. Do you all have any suggestions?

I'm NOT promoting RC at all - but this setting of Psalm 51 is exquisitely beautiful. Mendelsohn gets a mention, & he was a Protestant who wrote the "Reformation Symphony." The performance itself is the last 15 minutes or so. It's complete with English sub-titles. Allegri - Miserere Psa 51 ¶ [[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.]] 1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Mods - feel free to delete the thread if it offends.

Does anyone know where I can download some good music? I especially like songs that were sung and recorded in local church services that churches have put on their website. My church puts music online: http://www.cmrbc.org As does Shawnee Baptist in Louisville: http://www.shawneebaptist.org I was wondering if anyone knew of others. I like to download them and then burn my own CD's to listen to. Thanks, Ramba29

heavy metal 1 2
by Guest Guest- 26 replies

 This is how heavy metal makes me feel. I used to listen to it all the time. But I don't anymore and it is very oppresive to me now. The bakers at work like to play it top volume for hours and the boss says I am not allowed to say anything about it because "they have done it for years you can't change what they do now, thats not fair." But I felt suicidal and everything, not only that but it made me feel violent, and it hurts my ears to the point of giving me ear infections and it hurts my head and I can't hear properly for hours afterward. This is what happened to me today. Katy-Anne

Question on Types of Music
by Guest Guest-

I am here in this forum to learn more about what Baptists believe because I am interested in serious Christianity. I hope my asking this won't offend anyone as I am not challenging what anyone here believes - I am just trying to understand it to see if I agree with it for myself. What types of music are accepted and prohibited from a Baptist point of view? Is it just music that has bad language, or is it also non-Christian music that doesn't have bad language and Christian music too? What are the reasons? Thank you.

My daughter invited me out on a father-daughter "date" last night. It ended up being my wife and father-in-law as well. It was the King's Heralds quartet........ They were a tremendous blessing, glad I was able to hear them praising the Lord. They did a version of the Lord's prayer that just made you look to the Lord and have shivers down your spine.
