Recently, I have been thinking about how the Lord has enabled me to care for the clients at Kelowna's Gospel Mission. Saying, "I love you" to anyone other than my immediate family has always been extremely hard for me due to physical and mental abuse in my past. Though I may have a hard time saying it verbally, I know that I love the clients here - because this is where my heart is, where I put my time and many times my treasures. Because Of Jesus Chorus: Because of Jesus, I know that I love you. Because of Jesus, I want the best for you. He did a work within my heart; His love to me He did impart. I love you - because of Jesus. When I was lost and all alone, Je…

I have been greived for years over the Southern Gospel music industry. So often, especially here in the South, pastors really give rock, Christian rock, and CCM the dickens, but leave Southern Gospel music alone. We would cringe if someone wanted to sing a Christian rap song, or a Christian jazz song, in a conservative congregation, but we make excuses when it comes to the Southern Gospel crowd. Just to give you a peak into Satans true colors in the SGM crowd read the following article about Bill Gaither and his allegiance to the Southern Gospel Sodomites. http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/CCM/marsha_stevens.htm Isa 5:20 Woe unto them that call ev…

black spirituals 1 2

Are black spirituals ok? I mean I really like them, but I don't want to listen to them if they are wrong. Yesterday I did something really bad. I was at the shops and like I saw my friend and she said hi and moved on. I was in front of a music store and when she left it was playing Abba. Now, back when I was listening to rock n roll, I loved Abba. So when I heard it I...umm...went into the shop to hear the rest of the song. I came out with two CD's of these black spirituals. So yeah they were bought in a secular music shop. And I know I shouldn't have been in there because it always makes me struggle. And I am supposed to be saving my money really hard to get ba…

This is my 14 year old son, Jonathan, doing lead vocals, playing mandolin, rhythm guitar and standup bass (not all at the same time). My son, Josh is playing the dobro, our friend Jacob is playing the banjo and I'm backing up on tenor and baritone vocals. The SWAT team has a Sunday evening slot on a community radio station. In between discussions and debates we play traditional hymns and have also started to play bluegrass and southern gospel music. Most of our listeners are Aussie IFB's. On our team we have a Bro. from Mississippi whose father has just started a church in Western Sydney, which we attend. Hence the introduction of bg/southern gospel music. We have had a number of complaints about playing this kind of music. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I personally, having recently been introduced to this type of music, love it. I understand that we have to be careful with respect to the performers an…

Hey yall, I currently play a lot of bluegrass music. Some of it is gospel some of it is not. The stuff that is not is generally benign...talking about tractors, mountains, hogs...etc. This music does not explicitly glorify the Lord, but it talks about the human experience such as life, love, leaving home, etc. Is it bad that I play this music? Should I play nothing but Gospel? These are just subtle doubts in my mind....

Has anyone heard the CD from Brookland Tabernacle Choir "2003 Live - This is is your House"? Being involved in addiction ministry and understanding where many of the people in that choir came from, I found it very touching.

Before I was saved, I listened to rock music, after I got saved I listened to "Christian rock music"/CCM, later I gave that all up. Right now, I do not listen to anything at home--just sing in church or sing a hymn to myself at home. I do like music, but am uncertain just where to draw the line. I went and read the bigger threads you have on CCM. I understand that rock, country, rap, and the like are not the type of music we should be listening to, but what about the finer details of music? Obviously, you can take a hymn and play it in a style that is NOT right. I do not have a musical background and I do not read music--how does one discern say, without just going …

This is something that I've forgotten the argument against such things. Give me a good Bible answer. Tell me why such amazing ministries and music is so evil and wrong.
