Child of God, or child of the Devil?

Hello Family of God,

We are living in perilous times where many are those who are self-deceived into believing that they are saved, and are children of God; but they have failed to do a self-examination of their fruits. What sort of fruits are you producing? Do you possess Divine and Unconditional Love? Do you LOVE your enemies and pray for them? So many claim to do such, but the LORD knows their hearts and see them for the hypocrites that they truly are.

"And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to [the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience]: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of [the flesh] and of [the mind]; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others." (Ephesians 2:1-3)

The Greek noun "air" (Grk. aeros) refers to the dense atmospheric regions where there is air traffic.

Jesus said that all people belong in one of two categories: the children of Satan (cf. Jn. 6:70; Acts 10:38; 13:10; Heb. 2:14; 1 Jn. 3:8-12; Rev. 20:10), or the children of God (Matt. 5:9; Jn. 1:12; 8:44; Rom. 8:14-16; 2 Cor. 6:18; Gal. 3:26; Eph. 1:4; 2:10; 5:1; 1 Pet. 2:10; 1 Jn. 2:28; 3:1,10; 5:1-13).

"But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom [the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not], lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

The god of this world literally has unbelievers on a leash whether they realize it or not; and they are the ones who are under the mind controlling power of the devil and his host of agents who dwell in the heavenly realms, and even some below the earth. Satan entices the lost with sinful desires that appeal to the flesh, eyes, and pride of oneself; however, it is far more complex as a result of the innumerable amount of subsets that fall into these categories. It is the heart, soul, strength and mind in which the devil is out to conquer in the lives of those who reject the Gospel Message (Gen. 3:1-19; Matt. 16:22-24;  Lk. 22:3; Jn. 13:27; Acts 5:3-4; 8:9-25; 2 Cor. 4:3-4; 1 Tim. 6:9; Eph. 2:1-3).

"And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? And Jesus answered him, [The first of all the commandments is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with [all thy heart], and with [all thy soul], and with [all thy mind], and with [all thy strength]: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:28-31)

"He that [hath my commandments, and keepeth them, HE IT IS THAT LOVETH ME]: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." (John 14:21)

It is only through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit that anyone is able to do the above; for without it, one would follow the course of this world and its system of wickedness and sensuality. The desire for carnal desires being fed with the mind and unregenerate spirit of man must be replaced with a new heart and its longing to please the Lord with not only our minds, but with our heart, soul, and strength as well.

  • Heart: (Grk. kardias)
  • Soul: (Grk. psyches)
  • Mind: (Grk. dianoias)
  • Strength: (Grk. ischyos)

The combination of these nouns is used to convey the sense, "every single part of you" In the Bible, "heart" and "soul" are synonyms, with the former concentrating on the inner person (where spirit and mind connect). "Mind" can also be used for the internal person (since it's impossible to separate out our emotions); "strength" refers to applying oneself to loving the  Lord. Together, these provide a powerful command to love the Lord with all we are. This passage is not, however, illustrative of "biblical anthropology", that is, the Bible's teachings about how man is constituted -- the opposite in fact: it takes an understanding of those things to process this passage."Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because [GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU, than he that is in the world]. [They are of the world]: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. [We are of God]: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error." (1 John 4:4-6)

It is impossible for anyone who loves God can love the world at the same time. The Love of God is in contrast to the the love of the world system; i.e., if anyone truly Loves God and Christ, he/she will hate the world and its system (e.g., "the lust of the flesh, eyes, and the pride of life"). If you are not in opposition to that which is against God and His Eternal Truth, then you are for the world, and not against it and its ideologies (cf. Matt. 4:1-25; Jn. 15:19; 17:11,14; 2 Cor. 10:4-6; Eph. 2:2; 6:12-13; 1 Jn. 5:4; Rev. 12:9).

"If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." (John 15:19)

When Jesus Christ returns to set up His Kingdom on Earth, He will send out the reapers (angels) to gather His elect from every nation around the world. These reapers are spirit beings who are the original sons of God, and they are able to distinguish the wheat (True Christians) from the tares (false converts) by knowing who possesses the Omnipresent Spirit of God which they are able to see. Those who are devoid of the Spirit are gathered collectively and separated from the elect, and the unbelievers will be cast from the presence of God and into a furnace of fire at the end of the age to be tormented for all of Eternity (Matt. 13:39-42; 24:31; 25:31-33,41; 2 Thess. 1:6-7; Rev. 14:15; 20:11-15).

God Bless!

    • "For it is impossible for those who were once [enlightened], and have [tasted of the heavenly gift], and were made [partakers of the Holy Ghost], And have [tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come], If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame." (Hebrews 6:4-6) There will come a point in every person's heart where they will NEVER repent and accept the message of the
    • Jim, I am glad to hear that the devotion was a blessing to you. As with many other saints, the life, the character, and the moving incidents in the life of Joseph, are an inspiration.  Throughout the life of Joseph, we can see God moving His hand in the life of Joseph to use him for the deliverance of the Jewish race, the deliverance of the Egyptians, and we can see the character of Christ. Truly, Romans 8:28 is evident in Joseph's life, "And we know that all things work together
    • Well done Bro. Alan. The life and testimony of Joseph should and can be an inspiration and source of Godly instruction for all true believers, even us these many centuries later.
    • Thank you for your study on the differences of the Convents, and Promises in the scriptures. I personally appreciate the fine history (short), on the worship of God by the Chinese in ancient China. Also, I appreciate the following statement, "We show how the natural divisions and terms already in scripture are there to aid the believer in their study." God bless! 😀
    • I’ve asked you this in another thread, but you have not responded. Can you PLEASE tell me why you put endless brackets around various words when quoting the Bible? I understand when you want to possibly emphasize a phrase or define a phrase - but other than that, I do not know. I find it very distracting and difficult to read when trying to read your studies/posts. At first I thought it might have been to distinguish between regular and italicized words in the Bible (as I have seen some writers
    • Thank you. As you mentioned, "We need to be good stewards" in our handling of the word of God."

Bennett Springs State Park has a large fish hatchery for Rainbow Trout and is a very popular place for fishermen and locals from the area. Bennett Spring State Park Bennett Springs, MO
    • Thank you for the encouraging sermon on Psalm 89. As you mentioned, we are in a war: battles will be fought, and sometimes we cannot see the victory in the grand scheme of things. But, God knows what He is doing and victory will come in due time. Every saint can rest in the promise in Psalm 89:34, "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips." "Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen and Amen." Psalm 89:52 Keep up  the good work.
    • It is the ignorance of human reasoning that has led many to reinvent God according to their "man-made" concepts and ideologies (e.g., "how can Two or Three persons possibly be One?"). God is not obligated to respond to anyone with a finite mind, but He already has silenced the ignorance on man's part so it may not be repeated. He Answers Job with Questions . . . seems odd, right? or is it? Job was the most righteous man in his time, but even faithful men who draw near to God find themselves aski
    • God is Invisible, and He has revealed Himself in Holy Scriptures, and to a greater extent by the Incarnate Word. Faith is a MUST in order for True Worshipers to Worship God in Spirit and in Truth; and this not only includes the correct understanding concerning the Person and Deity of Christ, but to accept the Inerrancy of all Scripture as Divine Inspiration. There is "external" evidence which points to "Inescapable" FACTS that cannot be denied (e.g., "incriminating or [INDISPUTABLE EVIDENCE]" be
