Leviticus 20 - Giving Seed to Molech (Penalties for Abomination)

Leviticus 20 gives the Penalties for committing the Abominations listed in Leviticus 18. The primary sin from which the rest flows is the abomination of "whoring with Molech". This basically was the giving of their new born babies to be killed by burning over a fire on the hands of a metal Idol called Molech. This evil practice was done by people who wanted to get rid of their unwanted children in exchange for the idol to give them good crops. This practice was popular with promiscuous men who did not want the responsibility for the child or mother. God commanded the most severe penalty for such whoremonger. Not only was Molech outlawed any man spreading his seed in the land and giving it to Molech was to be put to death and if he was not then wrath would also be against his family and nation. In this sermon we see how allowing such men in the land will result in and lead to the other societal abominations as well. This chapter deals with the penalties for molestation, fornication, adultery, hatred of parents, homosexual acts, bestiality, and witchcraft. In this sermon we explain how each nation has a duty to keep the whorish men of Molech from destroying their land or the land will spew us out and God's wrath will be on our nation. Preached: April 29, 2018 Sunday Morning. By Pastor John Young, at Edgecliff Baptist Church, Spokane Valley, WA.

John,

Thank you very much for uploading this sermon on Leviticus 20. I do appreciate your devotion on holiness, sanctification and being godly in the sight of God.

As you aptly brought out, the evil life style, and the abominations, of the heathen in the Old Testament is still evil and abominable in our society under the New Testament. As God abhorred the evil sexual acts, and the practices, of the world in the Old Testament so does God abhor the evil sexual acts in the New Testament.

The message reminded me of 1 Corinthians 10:6, "Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.” and Romans 15:4, “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

May the Lord bless you as you remind your congregation of the holiness of God, the wickedness of the customs and abominations of our society, and the sanctification of the righteous.

    • Thank you for uploading the sermon.
    • Thank you for posting this sermon BroMatt. He does an excellent job of bringing out the concept of "All things work together for good, to them that are the called according to His purpose. Although he never actually mentions that verse, the concept is there in his assertion of "what I do now thou knowest not, but thou shall know later".
    • I enjoy hearing Pastor Kenny Baldwin, Crossroads Baptist Church. The sermon on 1 Chronicles 21:18-23, by brother Baldwin, preached at Temple Baptist Church, Pastor Sexton, of Crown College, is a blessing. Among the other passages, Brother Baldwin's preaching on Romans 12:1-2, is a great, "preaching storm." Ornan was a man who understood God, "And Ornan said unto David,Take it to thee, and let my lord the king do that which is good in his eyes: lo, I give thee the oxen also for burnt offerings, and the threshing instruments for wood, and the wheat for the meat offering: I give it all." 2 Chronicles 21:23 To quote Pastor Baldwin, "I wonder is there an Ornan in the house, ready and willing to say, "I give it all."
    • You are correct, the button to add a new entry does not show up for members. I'm going to look into this.
    • Is it somewhere on this page? I have a couple of youth meeting sessions from Kenny Baldwin that I was given a few years ago - good preaching those ones.   Sorry to be painful about this, but maybe you can delete these posts when you eventually get it into my thick skull how this works….😁
    • Just go to the main club page and click the add a sermon button. Just paste the YouTube video and it will automatically embed.
    • Ok cool - but this dumb bloke can't see how to post a new video, only how to comment on yours. Can you give us a quick tutorial? 😊 This is all new to me so I am obviously missing something. 🙄😂
    • That's because its a public club so no need to join.
    • Hey Brother,  The other clubs have a "Join Club" button under them, but this one doesn't for me?
    • Jim, Thank you very much for this devotion on, 'Contrary Doctrine,' based on Romans 16:17 You hit the nail on the head on the following observation, "Why are there different doctrines among professing churches? We have possession of God’s Word. We also have division, sects, creeds and denominations, Why? Because they refuse to submit their whole moral being to the authority of the Scripture." As you mentioned, the "contrary doctrines" from the false teachers, in the false churches, stem from the commandments of men, "The ‘so called’ church has wholly departed from the authority of the Word of God. In these churches, things are taught that have no foundation in the Scripture. They not only tolerate, but sanction and defend that which is in direct opposition to the mind of Christ. He spoke of them in Mat.15:8-9. This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. 9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men." God bless! Alan
