Sometime tonight the boards will be down for less that an hour. This is just a bug fix update. Boards will be going down anywhere around 5-7 PM EST.

I tickled to announce that my Sweety, Darlene, is going to have # 9. The baby is due in Feb. 2010. We are so excited.

I saw this on the MyBB board when I was thinking about converting and I thought we would give it a try here.

Ever have a question about an Admin or Moderator but was too afraid to ask? Well now is your opportunity. The questions can have nothing to do with Online Baptist.

Go ahead and ask your question and myself or one of the Mods just may answer your question. Make sure you mention who you are asking the question too.

Examples:
For BroMatt: How many Online Baptist members have you meet in person?
For All Mods: What kind of computer do you have?

Mods are not required to answer your question, but hey it is worth a try.

If have not noticed, the boards were switched over late last night. If you are reading this and did not notice it, then go back to bed.

If your signatures are messed up a little, you may need into change a few settings in your User CP.

Let me know if are experiencing any problems.
If for some reason your post count got messed up during the conversion, just let me know and I will fix it for you.

Very soon I will be changing the board software that OB is using from phpBB to MyBB. The following is what I will be converting over.

1) All members
2) All posts and post counts
3) Private Messages
4) Forums
5) Usergroups
6) Signatures

What I will not be transferring over is avatars. So you may want to save a local copy so that you you can upload it again once the new software is in place.

Because of the different ways dev's code programs, you may notice that your signature looks really huge or small after the conversion. Don't panic, just go into your new UCP and make the changes.

You may notice a few other weird things after the conversion, just bring them to my attention and I will see what I can do to fix it.

I believe that this conversion will greatly enhance Online Baptist.

When the boards go down it will be down for around 1-2 hours.

Just for fun, here are some stats for Online Baptist.

1) One of the top Google searches that brings traffic to Online Baptist is the phrase "ebonics bible". Ebonics bible search directs you to this topic.

2) Another top search where people find Online Baptist is from the phrase "chatroom indenpent baptist". This one I found amusing. Google search for this phrase. Over a hundred people misspelled independent to bring traffic to OBL.

In the future I'm considering changing the software from phpBB to either MyBB or SMF. Those of you that have used either of these, what is your opinion on them?


Because of certain reasons, I will not even consider IPB or vBulletin. I will consider other paid forum software. :lol

I would like to announce the birth of my daughter Emma Joy. She was born last night at 9:30pm. She is 6lb 12.8oz and 20 inches long.

Seth-Doty has stepped down as Mod on Online Baptist and will not be immediately replaced. Seth will be missed as a Mod member and has done a great job during his time here. Seth will still be an active member of our community, but will no longer serve as a Mod Team Member.

Online Baptist will be down for about a hour or two today. The down time will start in about an hour from now at 2pm EST. After it is back up the boards will still work but you may notice a few errors and a few things messed up. Please do not report these, if you are still receiving the error tomorrow then please let me know.
